Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day - not in my conservatory spot - the table's full of things I moved out of the kitchen yesterday 🙈. Boy cat's in the window, watching the cars on the road, girl's gone back to bed with dd2 💤.

I have the washer on for the first load of towels, and last night's few pots soaking in hot water. The washer does not sound healthy this morning! I'll shift and wash up shortly. Need to take my tablets first, then sort them for the coming week.

Today's plan is to replace a little bit of the sealant in the kitchen, where it's coming away, and a second coat of gloss on the door frame. I need to order some mesh tape on ebay too. They won't take long so, this afternoon, I'll sit down with my peg dolls for a little while. None are ready to go to work yet, so that's my plan for this week's afternoons!

Dd2 will, no doubt, do more revision. She's been busily writing herself q&a's for her upcoming Spanish speaking exam. I'd hazard a guess that today will be maths!

We'll have an early ish tea of bangers & mash with veg and gravy, tidy the kitchen and then get sorted for the coming week at work. I'm half dreading it - my teacher's on mat leave so I have temp cover until summer.

Tonight I'll look over the new crochet pattern I have. It's a kit that was a Christmas gift from a colleague so should be fairly straightforward.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning lucysmam and others. Good luck keeping the cats away from the new paint!
I have had 3 coffees and a croissant. Amazon delivered at 7 this morning. Fortunately I was up already and on coffee 1. Today will be a cooking day. Lentil soup in the slow cooker, gammon in the oven with a pineapple upside down cake and cauliflower cheese, initially on the hob, then finished in the oven. Some of that will do dinner tonight, then tomorrow when I have dgs. They are still on holiday next week.

Enjoy your day all

MummyInTheNecropolis · 12/04/2026 09:01

Good morning @lucysmam
I’m back to work tomorrow after a lovely 2 weeks off so I’ve decided to take it easy and treat myself a little bit. Planning a walk round the local food market in the park later, going to sit by the lake with a coffee and a cake and pick up something lovely for dinner. It will only be me home tonight as DD is off to my mums so I’m thinking maybe some nice bread, cheese and hummus.

I am considering going for a run first to try and mitigate the extra calories but haven’t quite found the motivation yet! Later on I will do some meal prep for the week ahead, have a look through my planning so I know what I’m teaching tomorrow, have a long shower and hair wash with a bit of extra pampering (hair mask, full body moisturise etc) and will probably do a bit of yoga and meditation before bed to prevent any back to work anxiety and help me sleep better. I hope you have a good day.

DilemmaDelilah · 12/04/2026 09:14

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I'm up and dressed, with the intention of planting out some of my seedlings before it rains later.

The people I thought might 'pop in' yesterday let me know they weren't coming as they had started out late, but they are coming next Saturday evening for a light repast and cake. I'm trying to think about what to give them - they won't need a proper meal because they are going out for a late lunch, but it does need to be enough to keep them going for their 4-5 hour journey home. Any suggestions would be welcome! We're going out to the theatre that afternoon and will only be home around half an hour before they get here, so it needs to be really easy. 3 children between 7 and 11, and parents who are quite health conscious I think. 1 child isn't keen on meat.

We didn't have curry yesterday - instead I unearthed a container from the freezer labelled 'some sort of meat', I (or more likely Mr Dilemma) obviously hadn't labelled it when it was first frozen. It turned out to be cottage pie base, which was fine. We had it with jacket potatoes. I also got out some nice pieces of cod and some leftover fish pie sauce, and we're going to have that tonight with mashed potatoes and some sort of veg. I don't think we have anything but carrots that are fresh, but there are lots of other veg in the freezer if Mr Dilemma decided that carrots don't go with fish....

At some time later on we will probably go out to get some bread and some milk... possibly also some fresh veg if Mr Dilemma sees something he wants. He's not keen on vegetables so if he actually expresses a liking for something I grab the opportunity to get him to eat it. He is good and will eat most of what I give him as he knows it's good for him, but I might as well give him something he likes.

Other than that - no particular plans. Have a lovely day everybody, or at least the best one possible.

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. @LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand haven’t had pineapple upside down cake for years! DBro made one at school which was delicious.
Had a much needed lie in & not long finished a cuppa. DH & I both scrolling. He likes to watch cycle maintenance videos. Thrilling 🤣🤣🤣 Not much planned for today. I need to put Vanish on a dress that I’ve sold on Vinted. The dishwasher needs doing & I have a couple of bras to soak. Will see if there’s enough for a load in the washing machine. The weather’s iffy so it probably won’t get hung outside. There’s yet more rabbit poo to hoover up. No idea what’s for tea so will rummage in the freezer. I might have an Iceland ready meal as you can cook them from frozen. DH could have an egg, bacon & cheese “ banjo”. Going to visit DM in the care home this afternoon, hopefully coinciding with DF & DBro, but if not I’ll go to the house. DBro has an Easter Egg for DD17.

I have leftover pineapple chunks from last Sunday when i made a hedgehog (pickled onion, cheese and pineapple on sticks). Im into retro food at the moment 😂

Judgejudysno1fan · 12/04/2026 09:23

Hiya, im 36 weeks plus now. Have found out that I could be induced next week Due to small baby so freaking out about that.

Today's plans are to sort/buy small newborn baby girls clothes, scrub the fridge before the delivery comes, organise the recycling and food waste and to a deep clean of the house with help from 3 of the 6 kids. Then crash on the sofa afterwards to watch the final episode of The capture series 3!!!

Tonight's dinner is roast chicken, cheesy mash, yorkshire puds, brocolli, roast potatoes smothered and swimming in gravy. Jaffa cakes and chocolate donuts for pudding!!! Have a lovely day all

QueenStevie · 12/04/2026 09:30

I am getting up and going into school to have a bit of a sort out of the classroom so we can hit the ground running tomorrow. Can't believe it is the summer term. I've been in already and sorted out the outdoor space. DH is still.off for another week so he will be pottering around doing whatever he does and DD is at work. I'm dieting so I am just feeding myself. DH and DD are airing themselves.

TheLivelyAzureHedgehog · 12/04/2026 09:31

Hmm DH and I were both up with upset stomachs last night (lots of bugs going around school and work atm) so a quiet day ahead. I will half-heartedly wash the car as it’s finally stopped being so bloody hot, DH is doing a big clean of our two aquariums. Two boys currently still snoring their heads off (the 18 yr old was in at 3:30am 😱, the 15yr old was crashing around having a shower at midnight 🙄 so words will be had when he finally emerges.

i might go to the market and get fresh veg and Moroccan bread to make a mezze style platter for dinner. It’s a faff but very rewarding: hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki, falafel, pickled pink onions - all home made. Plus merguez sausages for the meat eaters.

RibenaCocktail · 12/04/2026 09:33

I’ve had my morning cuppa and I’m mumsnetting and doom scrolling 😬
We are supposed to be going to church in an hour but DH is still snoring away beside me.

I’ve got Carioca beans soaking to make Brazilian Beans stew with lunch today. We will have lunch with my parents.

We will probably have a long walk today if the sun holds up but I’ve got a lot of work to do in preparation for tomorrow and the week ahead 😩 so not much of a fun Sunday really.

gingercat02 · 12/04/2026 09:38

Morning @lucysmam and the Sunday crew.
Usual Sunday here, just having breakfast before my class.
Cat fed and surveying the world from the back of the chair. She's way too old for many zoomies these days, they are fun when they have a mad moment!

DH and I had a late one last night. It's was nearly 1am! DS appears not to have come home until 2:45. He's 17 but very sensible so I don't mind as it's the holidays and has been revising a lot for his A levels. DH is just stirring now. He intended to go for a run this morning but we shall see...

I have a online taster session for another exercise class I like at 1:30 and there's football at 2, so I will have the afternoon to myself. Might do some gardening if the wind dies down.

No thoughts on tea yet, but a bit of telly and some wine after that. I'm off work until Thursday so no rush today. Lovely.

Tiddlywinks63 · 12/04/2026 09:38

Good morning everyone, it’s very quiet here apart from tiddler’s snoring. DH took her out early, he’ll take bigger dog out shortly on their usual walk around the village.
I have sorted out a big bag of yarn for my neighbour, a bag of clothes for the charity collection in a couple of weeks, gone through my wardrobe and tidied it. I have far too many pillows so need to get rid of some (probably at the recycling centre when DH next goes).
Chicken in mushroom sauce for dinner, mashed potato and veggies. My appetite is really poor at the moment so trying to eat sensibly.
I will do more embroidery later, it keeps me occupied while I listen to audiobooks or podcasts. That reminds me, I need to give my unwanted cross stitch kits to my lovely neighbour across the road.

WorthySloth · 12/04/2026 09:43

Morning all! Sounds like you have lovely mornings going on 😁 unfortunately I’m at work today and sleeping in tonight but on the plus side I’m sitting in a car with a client listening to the Beatles and looking at the sea and someone will cook me a roast dinner later so I class that as a win!

Autumngirl5 · 12/04/2026 09:48

Love these posts! I am still in bed drinking coffee and eating porridge (I know how glamorous)! Feeling very smug as I cleaned the entire house yesterday so sorting jumble for a collection tomorrow and sending off a Vinted parcel.
We are taking our gorgeous elderly dog for a walk round a nearby stately home later then vegetarian sausages, roast potatoes and vegetables for supper and a well deserved glass of wine.
I hope everyone has a good day planned.

Zippidydoodah · 12/04/2026 09:53

Morning all! Back to school and work tomorrow so lots of laundry/tidying and preparing for that. Since stopping teaching, I have no dread whatsoever about work tomorrow, but I am a bit concerned as to how I’m going to get everyone up and out the door early! 🤣

Zippidydoodah · 12/04/2026 09:54

Oh, and my son is playing football so I will take him to that and watch.

OchreSwan · 12/04/2026 10:04

Good morning all! A late start for us today after quite a few at the pub last night. We’re heading off on holiday today, but not leaving until this evening so lots of time to get sorted.

I’ve not started packing yet but aiming to travel very light so hopefully won’t take too long. Need to wash my hair and do my nails at some point, and then just finishing off bits of housework so we come back to a nice clean house! Planning on running to the shop to get something easy to put in the freezer for us to have when we get back next week too, as we won’t get home until 8ish and won’t want to faff around trying to find something to eat!

JacknDiane · 12/04/2026 10:09

Im still in bed. The washing machine is on ,full of clothes from our break visiting our eldest ds. I always hate leaving him and feel very discombobulated today. Im glad he is independent but id just like h8m nearer.

HollyhockDays · 12/04/2026 10:12

I’ve walked the dog and am now doing a clean from top to bottom of the house as the cleaners couldn’t come this week (top floor done so just having at sit down! Listening to The Archers). Two floors to go. Also want to get to “laundry zero” so it’s all washed / ironed / put away for school going back tomorrow. Might potter in the garden then DH and I going to the cinema and then probably watching the golf. Fingers crossed for Rory!

Topsy44 · 12/04/2026 10:13

Good morning Lucysmam and All

Back to work for me tomorrow after having 10 days off. Not looking forward to the zillions of emails! So today is hopefully a relatively quiet one. Washing machine is on, Dcat is snoozing next to me, teen DD is festering in her room and I will call my elderly Mum in a bit for a natter.

Will try and read some of my book this afternoon and get sheets and towels washed. DD still has one week to go before she goes back to school so at least I don’t have to think about her uniform, homework etc for a bit.

Probably spaghetti Bol for tea and a film for Dd and I to watch together.

frozendaisy · 12/04/2026 10:22

Morning morning all

I am the first/only one awake - weekend upside down - stayed up until 3am on Friday night/Saturday morning watching astronauts splash down, then H&youngster had early football (think H was hallucinating driving back)
had a, “you need to take your life in your own hands and decide what’s important” chat with eldest on Friday so just seeing how that pans out

had Sunday roast yesterday

off out bowling with homemade burger and buns (dough is already in bread maker) later, if needed if we don’t eat out later (we might we might not)

back to routine tomorrow but will think about that at 8.30pn

have a lovely spring Sunday everybody

BitOutOfPractice · 12/04/2026 10:25

Morning @lucysmam et al. Anyone else wanting pineapple upside down cake now?

I am about to go to the gym for a run. Then home for brunch, out for a blow dry, then back to the gym for yoga.

This afternoon I want to do my last bit of packing for holidays on Thursday (did all the ironing yesterday using my new steamer. Very impressed), and a bit of prep for the work week ahead.

We are having roast chicken for dinner and no doubt will pop to the pub for what my dad would’ve called a swift half while the chicken is cooking.

TV and maybe a bit of knitting tonight.

HotGazpacho · 12/04/2026 10:25

Good morning @lucysmamand all! I love this thread. I’m still in bed, having got up to make a cuppa and feed the cat. DC is in bed next to me watching YouTube videos about Minecraft builds, and we’ve had marmalade on toast whilst the sun shines through the window. Chores later, ready for the new week. I’ve had two weeks off and I’m not ready to go back.

tobermoryisthebestwomble · 12/04/2026 10:33

Good morning all, I've woken in a hotel as me and dh were out to see an event whluth a few drinks after and a late night maccy DS 😁

This morning we have used the pool steam and sauna facilities and had a lush full English. We are going to put a bit of charge in the car so we can get home, and have a little walk whilst it's charging.

This afternoon I am just going to catch up with a few chores, a bit of laundry and get the house straight for the week. I may do some more work on my dissertation, I've got a rewrite of my literature review due on a fortnight. We are having ready meal Charlie Bigham fish pie with veg for dinner, and will watch some shows, maybe Fallout new season.

MentorChappell · 12/04/2026 10:35

Coaching volleyball tournament and going to a garden show in America.

Ohhhwell · 12/04/2026 10:51

I woke at 10am.
Having coffee now then shower and binge online alday.
No work to do no chores to do no one coming over.
Blissful.
