Anyone have a summer holiday already booked which has a layover in Dubai?

I've been extremely (unusually!) organised this year and already booked a holiday to Asia which includes a London-Dubai flight, a layover of a couple of hours and then an onward flight. It’s booked as a package with Virgin holidays the flights all with Emirates.

I’ve just had an email reminding me the balance is due in a couple of weeks and I have no idea what to do. Cancel and lose the £500 deposit, pay the balance (many £££s) and hope for the best?

Anyone else in the same boat and want to talk about options? I spoke to Virgin today who assured me that if they cancel we get a full refund but I’m not sure I can stand the stress of the unknown.

I’d pay the balance so you don’t lose the deposit, but accept that it’s very unlikely to go ahead (I assume that it’s quite soon as you’re being asked the the balance?). Will you get a full refund if the airline cancels?

It’s not till July! We get a full refund if Virgin cancels and they will cancel if the Foreign Office advises against travel (as they are doing now).

Emirates have been flying 80% of their flights (all to and from Dubai) last few weeks
the flights will almost certainly go, but you should have the option to postpone
I think at the moment you can only postpone if flying before the end of May
