What spur-of-the-moment purchases have you made that turned out better than expected??

One spring day, a sunny, gardening-weather day, I went out for a couple of bags of peat and came home with a cabriolet. My very first open-top, I had it for 10 years and only sold it last year....I loved that car.

Do you have any unexpected purchases?

I recently went to a garden centre for a particular plant, it wasn't in stock, but I came home with a set of beautifully patterned bowls, ideal for serving tapas dishes in.

A miniature daschund. He was the brother of a colleagues puppy which I went to pick up with with her and the last one left as he was runty and has a kink in his tail. He is the baby of our family and our other Dogs allow themselves to be bossed about by him.

Aww, that's a wonderful spur of the moment purchase. x

Op, I think you are my hero! That’s a brilliant spur of the moment decision! Mine was probably a flat many years ago. I needed to move for work, my sale was all good and then my sellers pulled out at the 11th hour. I got the train to the city I was supposed to be moving to, went to see four flats in the space of about 2 hours, offered on one that day, had the offer accepted the next day, salvaged the chain as it was a probate property and they could proceed quickly. Moved in a month later! I was very happy in that flat, it’s one of the nicest places I’ve ever lived, and if life hadn’t conspired otherwise I think I would still be there now.

Im an impulisve nightmare so most of my purchase are unplanned 😅
I think probably the best was an LV card holder in navy epi leather - ive used it constantly for 15 ish years and it still looks new.
Worst was went on holiday and came back with a Subaru.

I think your flat trumps my car for an impulsive buy.😄

I mean, it was sort of planned, just not THAT flat 😂

Some of my best purchases have been impulse buys.

I bought an inflatable 2 man lilo once when I spotted it in a shop window, it eventually came in handy when I bought a caravan by the sea.😎

I may get one, he looks great.

My car. I LOVE my car.

Oh, and our house! That was pretty spur of the moment too. I saw it online and ours wasn't even on the market. Viewed it, decided we had to have it and had ours on the market and sold within a week. It was a crazy week but it was definitely worth it!

I think with a house, you either know straight away it would make a good home, or you instinctively know it's not for you.
My house, where I have lived for decades, was a new build, so I didn't get the vibe straight away....but I loved the area, and as we visited often as it was being built, I sort of loved it long before it was finished.
It wasn't a spur of the moment purchase by any means, but it was the right one for us.
