I'm considering relocating to Winchester as a single woman with my pets (dogs/cat). I like the idea of London being an hour away and that I'm close to parks for country dog walks etc. Is this a good move? My budget will be around £800-£900k. I enjoy keeping fit e.g. pilates or yoga and don't want to be isolated otherwise I won't meet new people.

I don’t know Winchester OP but just giving your post a boost. I’m going to make a move next year as a single woman with cat to new area (to be decided where), it’s pretty daunting. I’m at the ‘visiting places’ stage and assessing what I can afford and where. How old are you? Do you have to factor in finding work as well?

I absolutely love Winchester!! I lived there for 2 years in my late 20s. Completely the wrong time of life for me to be down there but now I have kids, we’re yearning to go back. Everyone is so friendly, it feels unbelievably safe, and there’s a super outdoorsy culture there. I would go in a heartbeat. I would only say that if you’re alone, have a support network down there. It can get quite lonely!

I will not have a support network initially as I don't know anyone in the area, but I hope I will meet people through dog walks, exercise classes etc. Cross fingers! Hence I don't want to life in a leafy suburban area which may be too isolating. I assume its not too clique??
