Instruments you love and those you dislike

Inspired by the thread on buskers.

What instruments do you particularly like and which do you dislike?

I really love brass instruments and the accordion. I can’t stand the sound of the saxophone, even when played very well. I don’t love the sound of the clarinet but I can see its place in an orchestra.

I dislike the bagpipes and steel guitars (like in country music). Florence Nightingale wrote an essay about the healing effects of music, but she preferred instruments that made a continuous sound (ie the notes ran seamlessly into one another like wind instruments or a violin, rather than plink-plonk like a xylophone)

I like the bagpipes (perhaps it is similar to the accordion).

Violins / violas / cellos need to be played very well to be enjoyed.

Violin, except when played perfectly - and hardly anyone plays them perfectly.
Bagpipes! Just no!
Heritage string instruments that sound plinky-plonky: harpsichord, lute, etc.
I like a harp, though.
Drums - any drums - reverberate right through me, in a good way. Exception for random bashes by young children, but I still support their exploring their sense of rhythm!
