I'm hoping to hear some positive stories here. My dad had major surgery in November and has been inICU ever since. He has tried to wean from the ventilator 2 x but has had to be reintubated. He is physically and mentally exhausted. He has lost so much weight - and today the light has gone from his eyes an he had tears. It's just so cruel and unfair. He's worked so hard to wean only for his co2 levels to keep rising. Has anyone else got experience of long term ICU success at 71? I'm praying for a miracle - as that seems to be the only way he will survive. Would
