How long does it take you to fall asleep?

How long does it generally take you to fall asleep and how many hours of sleep do you usually get? I’ve gone from falling to sleep in 15 mins and sleeping for about 9 hours, to it taking me 2 hours to fall asleep and only sleeping for 6. Just made me curious about other people

Has something happened to trigger the change?

I usually fall asleep quite quickly and sleep for around 7 hours, but at the moment I’m tossing and turning for a good hour before falling asleep and getting around 6 hours. I know mine is liked to some stress in my life at the moment and hopefully will resolve itself.

Yeah I went through an anxious period a few months ago and I haven’t been able to get my sleep back on track. Sometimes as I fall asleep I jerk awake again, it can be torture if it lasts for hours

Have you thought about an audible book or trying the Calm app? I use the Calm sleep stories every night, they range in length and the voice overs are generally famous people. I swear I'm asleep in 15 minutes now, and actually stay asleep (unless my bladder wakes me up!).

About 2 mins, storm sounds playing, asleep for 8hrs. It’s a skill.

I don't really know but sometimes it seems like hours. I wake up at least twice in the night if not about five times. I love it when you just fall asleep straight away and wake up refreshed! Hardly ever happens to me though.

I fall asleep really quickly like in less than a minute but wake up numerous times. I usually get about 6 hours a night but always disturbed and, according to my fitbit, hardly any of it is deep sleep.

I always feel tired but am kinda used to it. I haven't slept through the night from as far back as I can remember which is when I was about 16 (am in my 70's now). Have tried all sorts like sleep patches, magnesium, lavender spray etc and nothing works

I feel all over the place with sleep at the moment and I’m blaming peri menopause.

For 2 weeks a month I sleep as I always have, fall asleep within half an hour and sleep for 7/8 hours feeling great on waking.

For 1 week a month I struggle to fall asleep and never sleep more than 3 hours but miraculously feel good.

For the other week, I fall asleep within a couple of minutes and if I get the opportunity I could sleep for 16 hours. No matter how much sleep I get, I feel drained.

I’ve tried magnesium as someone said it may regulate my sleep through the month but it hasn’t so far.

Anxiety can definitely mess up your sleep pattern. Have you tried things like meditation, white noise or other sounds to sleep to? Would it be worth speaking to your GP? Do you feel tired during the day?

I amazed how Dh falls a sleep straight away. He stops reading book switches off light and two minutes later he is asleep. I take about 15-30 mins.
