At what age did your teenager come out of their room?

<lighthearted -ish!>

DS18 and 16 spend a lot of time in their rooms. Out with friends, part time work, college, gym, they do leave the house, but when they are at home, they are mainly in their rooms.
I am trying to imagine it stopping and can't!

For those with older kids, was there an age when this stopped, whether it be in their own house or your house - or will they be in their 50s and still sitting in their bedrooms?

Will they come out for things like weekly board game /cards night? Or if you just say come and have a chat and a cuppa with me?

I’ve got four through this stage successfully and definitely kept up family interaction being necessary. We ate together at the table etc, chatted over the washing up before they disappeared.

Yes, they will do. And we have a meal most days.

I was more wondering when/if the stage ends - I spend very little time in my bedroom - I was hoping it's just a phase.

DD is 22 - still very much prefers her room! She’ll come and eat dinner with me whilst watching the news together but that’s it really. We get enough good quality time outside the house on dog walks/coffee/lunch dates/in the car if I’m giving her a lift so it doesn’t bother me.
