Are you on your best form?

Do you think you’re on your best form?

Me, I’ve been and am on medication after being in a psychiatric unit in January 2025. I’m looking for a job partly to just have something to do. I also volunteer.

I just don’t feel I’m me, 100% at all. Through menopause with help of HRT. Rediscovered my art eg painting and the like through volunteering which is nice.

Don’t want to exercise, back on snacks though I can be good and be off them.

More introverted and staying in than I usually am.

I think you should be kind to yourself. If every month you are feeling better and doing more thats fab. Finding your artistic side sounds great.

Mental illness has the same recovery time as physical illness.

For example I had a bad foot injury 11 months ago. Every month I am recovering more but its like 10% every month, very slow. If I told you I was going to run a marathon (not that I ever did) tomorrow you would say i was silly and would end up back in hospital. Have the same expecatations of yourself.

Also do you want to go back to 100% if that is what precipitated the mental breakdown (apols if the cause was something else)

Aww thank you for responding. I don’t speak much about that time as family don’t seem to want to talk but whilst in hospital (before going to psychiatric ward) I was also sexually and physically assaulted by bank mental health nurses in the actual hospital. So bad that I ended up losing my voice and then self harming in hospital. Once I was back in psych ward I was much better. Police were looking into this but dropped case due to lack of evidence. Maybe I need counselling.

Edited

I do want to go back to 100%. My breakdown was caused by menopause and outside influences, excessively noisy neighbours.

I also don't feel like I'm my best version right now. I've been having medical cannabis prescribed by LeafEase.co.uk for my chronic pain and sleeping problems. I only tend to function when I have it, otherwise it's too hard for me to even get out of my bed.

I hope this time gets easier for both of us.
