Does anyone else find ‘what do we think’ thread titles irritating?

Am I the only person who gets irritated by ‘what do we think’ threads? For example, there was one this morning which was something like ‘what do we think of clothes banks?’.

The ‘we’ seems to suggest that all Mumsnet posters are a collective who all share one opinion. Why not say ‘what do you think of clothes banks?’. Why use ‘we’ over ‘you’?.

No offence intended to the OP of the thread I’ve just mentioned. I’ve seen the phrasing numerous times on here, this one is just the most recent!

I am not sure why but it makes me unreasonably irate!

I see in Facebook groups a lot things like 'mums, how are we entertaining our 3 year olds?'

It's just a trend but it bugs me!

Also the ‘I’m going to a party, what am I wearing?’ type ones 🤬

Drives me nuts and I generally wouldn't reply. I also hate the:

'Recommend me ....' Who says that in real life?

A long sentence about something, which is generally controversial, then they write- 'Comment'. No, I won't comment, you can F off 😆

I can trumph you all although I've not seen it as much lately.

I hate the ‘what trainers are we wearing this season’ posts, jeez, can’t you even pick a pair of trainers for yourself without worrying that your white trainers won’t be the same as everyone else’s white trainers.

ZanyMaker · 06/04/2026 16:07

Agree with all of these! I was going to say I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way - but that is slightly ironic considering the subject matter 😂

YANBU

I also really dislike the "Talk to me about..." threads.

So rude.

LappingLouisa · 06/04/2026 16:09

It’s the ‘to think’ thread titles that I ignore - normally controversial and somewhat goady and I’m sure made by the same op.

I've been debating starting this exact thread! It drives me insane. Threads is full of it.

"What footwear are we wearing this spring?" Well I'm wearing my pink vans. No idea about you.

"Millenials, are we watching the new Harry Potter?" I am. My friend won't be. How about you decide for yourself.

Ugh.
