Why age would you let your child watch these movies?

Dd is desperate to watch High School Musical and Descendants.

What age did/would you let your child watch these?

My child was five for Descendants. I love the movie. Great songs, strong women characters, nothing I objected to and I am usually a killjoy. Descendants 2 and 3 are even better. No reason not to see it unless your child gets unusually scared by film baddies. See also: Zombies, although Descendants was a real high point.

High School Musical child didn't see until much later because it is sexist tosh IMHO and also not very good.

She’s 7. I’m happy for her to watch both but apparently this is wrong.

What do the BBFC age ratings say? They are there for a reason.

Common sense media is always a good place to look. Assuming I’m looking at the right ones it says 8+ for both. Read the specific reviews to see why and any negatives in themes she may be specifically sensitive to. But t would probably allow a 7 year old who hasn’t overly sensitive to view based off that.

Descendants is PG and HSM is a U.

DD (18) still loves both and was 8 when she first discovered both films, but she had seen bits of HSM at her friends long before that.

I would let a 7yo old watch them

Watch them first and decide for yourself but I’d say 5/6. They are both very harmless (by my standards)

My 7 year old granddaughter loves high school musical. I have watched it with her. I didn't see anything in it inappropriate
