My YP has been offered summer jobs as an Activity Leader by both:
MLA (Moving Language Ahead)
and by
St Andrew’s College Language School.
We would really like to hear from anyone who has any experience of working for either company at one of their summer camps to help make her decision.
Job spec/contracts both seem heavily weighted to benefit the employer (eg they could terminate the contract or reduce it if they no longer need her due to fewer children signing up or that they only pay her for actual contact time with the children but the list of non-contact tasks required is vast). Just don’t want to see her taken for a mug or messed about. This will be for the whole of July (post A-levels). Both are residental camps for the attendees but one from is 45 minutes drive from home so she has been offered non-residential activity leader. The other she would be residing at the camp (as not local) and they deduct £10 per day from her wages for that.
For both jobs there could well be unpaid trapped time. Eg hours are within 7am - 10pm six days per week but exact hours not specified.
