Any reassuring experiences of having a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic?

Following on from another thread, are there any less frightening experiences with hysteroscopy? I'm having one under GA soon.

I had a hysteroscopy while also having LLETZ for cervical cancer under GA (GA was because of the hysteroscopy rather than the LLETZ). I didn’t have any issues from the hysteroscopy and a normal recovery from the LLETZ. I actually felt brilliant immediately afterwards, I remember feeling really bouncy and well-rested on the way home - the grogginess hit when the pain relief from LLETZ wore off!

I’ve had a couple under general, and it’s been fine. The worst bit for me is the not eating before hand! I also feel tired after a general, but you do get a good sleep! It’s been the same as any other general for me.

If anyone has a pushback from consultant etc about having GA, take a look at your hospital trusts policy - it will probably say you can request one. Go armed with that info to give you confidence. That is what I did. He wasn’t happy but I was very assertive.

Absolutely - had one and lump removal in womb just before Xmas. Had a hysteroscopy around 12 years ago and neither were an issue.

however, this time I opted for spinal anaesthetic- marvellous! Go for that if you can.

So to update, I had the procedure done under GA and it was all fine. They did give me a pre-op med to soften my cervix while I was waiting, everyone was very kind and I went to sleep quickly, woke up very comfortable and it was all done. They didn't bring out the stirrups I assume they used until I was out cold, so I escaped feeling exposed. The worst part of it all is the sore throat. Not sure if that's from dryness or if I was intubated in the end. I didn't think I was. Just resting now.

I'm glad it all went so well, sounds like a positive experience.
