What do 13 year old boys like??

Birthday coming up and I have no ideas.

Any ideas welcome.

TIA.

Depends. What does he spend his spare time doing?

John might like XBOX, Craig might live sports, Will is a violin mad kid, or Stevie is into fossils....

NachoFriend · 03/04/2026 07:06

Good point but I'm not sure there's much he's passionate about. Mostly he seems to just be on his phone. Likes football and F1.

Amazon vouchers (I have a 13 year old boy)

NachoFriend · 03/04/2026 07:10

Is vouchers a bit of a cop out? I'm old so always brought up that you should buy a present. Just don't know enough adolescent males to have good ideas!

When my son was turning 13, he was desperate for some Apple AirPods.
A bit older, but he loves his poker set and plays it with family and friends.
Fitness items, hoodies, tray of Krispy Kreme doughnuts go down well.

DiscoBeat · 03/04/2026 07:49

Budget? An experience voucher for a F1 drive? A signed F1 cap?
Tickets to a match or race?

Sprig1 · 03/04/2026 08:02

Nike socks, a cap, Gregg's voucher, or Sports Direct voucher would have gone down well with my son at that age.

whomadethatmess · 03/04/2026 08:13

Portable charger, AirPods, new football or boots/gloves/shin pads etc, console game (mine always wants the latest FiFA not FIFA game) or controller. Or something to encourage him off the phone - the doorway pull-up bar is very well used in this house.

Sandwich toaster so he can cook himself a hot meal.

NachoFriend · 03/04/2026 09:59

Thanks all.

Maybe a bit boring but the race across the world board game it very good if he likes watching the program.

Also I asked a group of teens what they wanted to do in the holidays and with a choice of anything for free number one choice was Nandos 🤦🏽‍♀️ so you could always take him there. If you’re his Nan then some of my fondest memories are eating out with her in town when I was a teenager .

Honestly, just cash! My DS just turned 14 and it’s what they all want

Ilovelurchers · 03/04/2026 10:41

I asked the teenage boys I teach this question a while ago, as my mom needed an Xmas present for a friend's grandchild.

They all unanimously said, Lynx!

TulipsDaffsAndSunshine · 03/04/2026 10:54

My 13yo DS would like…
A new football / rugby ball and pump
Stussy Tshirts
Caharrt sweatshirt m, Tshirt, jorts
Fragrance - aka aftershave
Nike - sports socks, cap, bumbag
Cinema vouchers
Ninja warrior vouchers
Go Ape vouchers
Football shirt of his favourite team
Chocolate
Cool light for his room or poster

Waffle maker went down well here too 👍

At 13 my oldest still liked Lego but was otherwise tricky. My youngest also loved Lego and was much easier. For him things like jelly cats, desk type toys (those old school things like the magnetic base with the piles of stars or ball bearings), markers for drawing, books, all sorts really. For Christmas his absolute favourite thing he got in his stocking at 13 was a meat tenderiser!
