Travel tips for Bolivia

Any travel tips for Bolivia? DD is going on a trip to Bolivia after Easter (lowlands rather than highlands). Any recommendations for travel essentials beyond the usual? In particular what insect repellants have been effective?

Bolivia ! How exciting ! Is she up to date with her vacs ? Hep B / Tetanus etc. I know yellow fever is recommended in Latin America, esp in rain forest like Amazon. I think you only have it once but she may not need it lowlands.
Boots do a good repellant, which I use here, called Repel Maximum : Tropical Destinations. Yes it does contain Deet but unfortunately that is the only surefire way to stop being bitten. I also have a little roll on for localised bites which stops the itching. One is After Bite Classic, not sure where I bought it, maybe Boots. Also an essential oil mixture which is super soothing and smells lovely. I bought that here (lavender, eucalyptus, calendula, tea tree oil, oregano oil) Always have a small bottle of antiseptic gel and various plasters / compeed for blisters etc.
I don't know about Bolivia but it is generally recommended to wear loose fitting clothing but cover up legs and arms in the evening. My friend got bitten by a bat (on her big toe !) when we went wild camping on the coast and had to have rabies injections. Not to alarm you ! But always use a net if possible.

Thank you @Aintgointogoa - really good to know what to buy. I have an essential oil repellant for her to take but will get the industrial stuff as well.
