Driving test cancellations. testi app

Has anyone successfully secured a cancellation through the app? I got an alert today while I was on my phone. Logged in and nothing there. Fair enough, possibly not quick enough by the time I got through their ridiculous captcha thing. While I was on the DVSA site though, another 2 cancellation notifications pinged on my phone for June and August. Neither were showing on the DVSA page and it continued to say no tests available, despite me refreshing. Wondering if the test app actually works or, if it’s a con.

It does work but you have to be perpetually ready and logged in. It consumed me for about a fortnight!

I found when trying to book a slot for my daughter, by the time the instructor had replied to confirm he and therefore his car was available, the slot had gone, so I gave up and stuck with the original date we had.
I did notice that occasionally a block booking of slots would become available though so maybe worth asking your instructor’s availability in the foreseeable few weeks so you can just book if one comes up?
Assuming you’re using an instructor car that is!

Also just to add, and sorry I can’t recall the time but there are certain points in the day the cancellations are released.

I used it successfully last year but it wasn’t the school holidays so I wasn’t competing against school and college pupils wanting a spot.

Yes it works. You need to have a pre-agreed list of ok dates with anyone else involved (your child, the instructor etc) so you are ready to jump.

Use the settings on the app so it only notifies you of relevant dates at the centre(s) you want. Eg set it to only show dates BEFORE the one you already have or only show preferred test centre etc. That way when one flashes up it’s highly likely to be worth jumping fast!

Have the licence number and current test booking ref saved in notes page on your phone as you need them fast!

Going through the exact same frustrations just now. Signed up with 3 apps. Have tried to book at half a dozen or so times but it always times out. Going to revert to the DVLA website 5.30 Monday. It’s a 2nd test.

Does anyone get an actual notification from Testi I have set everything I possibly can to get my phone to ping and it never has. This morning a whole weeks worth came up for the test ce

im having to constantly look at the app to check.🙁

I was hoping g this would get easier now rules have changed but two threads today seems not. It’s so shit.
