How do you do egg hunts?

If you do egg hunts (or remember them from your childhood), how do you do them? Do you do the ones with the clues, or simply search for the eggs?

When I was a child, we usually did the ones with clues, and we sometimes did a version where each of us hunting was blindfolded, and someone else would be the Easter Bunny's voice, guiding them to their big egg; and we could pick up any small eggs we found on the way.

(Please only reply if you like egg hunts! Easter Grin )

I’ve always just hidden the sweets (got a child who doesn’t like chocolate). I like the ideas of clues but sadly not that organised!

We have a set of 10 painted wood eggs which DD has to find, then she can swap them for a chocolate easter egg. Before she could read we just hid them in the garden, now we write clues that lead from one to the other.

This year I might add in a few of the reusable plastic ones that open up and pop a mini egg inside, I think she'll like that.

(when I say "clues" I mean v v simple ones. DD is only 5 so the main challenge is reading them!)

I always did rhyming clues that led them from one cache of treats to the next, finishing with the big egg.

I've always just hidden a variety of mini eggs. This year DS(12) and his friend will have the bonus of a small hollow egg each.

we just hide lots of chocolate out the back garden . One year it was non stop rain so it was the living room. It’s only a bit of fun

My dad used to write riddles with clues to wear the eggs were hidden and me and my sister would go hunting! It was so much fun. My DC are a bit young to understand the riddles so I’ll just dot them around
