Why can’t Dermot O’Leary eat Colin the Caterpillar cake?

Just a random musing here, but just been watching This Morning and they were taste testing 'Colin The Caterpillar' cake against another caterpillar type cake to see which was the nicest.

Alison Hammond told Dermot O'Leary "come on tuck in..., oh you can't can you?"

But why can't Dermot eat Colin The Caterpillar cake?

LindorDoubleChoc · 02/04/2026 11:55

Odd question! Probably food intolerance or allergy. Have you heard of those OP?

MrsClattenburg · 02/04/2026 11:56

Loves caterpillars so feels guilty eating a cake-shaped one?

MissyB1 · 02/04/2026 11:58

Has he given up chocolate for Lent? 🤔

PauliesWalnuts · 02/04/2026 11:58

He's catholic and has probably given up sweet stuff for Lent.

FruityFrog · 02/04/2026 11:58

Won't eat food with a face.

MissyB1 · 02/04/2026 11:58

Oh and I missed it so which caterpillar cake won?

Yep, ethical objection to eating caterpillars, I reckon.

Couldn't possibly be anything so dull as a gluten intolerance/nut allergy etc

WhatAMarvelousTune · 02/04/2026 12:00

He doesn’t have a nut allergy because he’s said before that his wife has a serious allergy so he only eats nuts out of the house. I only remember that because I’m the same with DH’s nut allergy.

I imagine it’s lent.

Is a line I wish I wrote 😂

MissyB1 · 02/04/2026 12:00

Just heard them mention Lent in relation to Dermot, so I think I was right.

hazelberry · 02/04/2026 12:01

A quick google says his wife has a severe nut allegy. Maybe that's why?

hazelberry · 02/04/2026 12:02

Oh, probably a lent thing then.

tartyflette · 02/04/2026 12:02

Or another dull one - vegan.
But probably Lent.

StoppedToTieHisShoe · 02/04/2026 12:05

Off chocolate for lent?

DolefullySingingMotherfucka · 02/04/2026 12:10

He dosen't need the calories.

PrincessOfPreschool · 02/04/2026 12:13

So who won? (much more interesting)

Runkle · 02/04/2026 12:15

He said earlier in the week that he's given up chocolate, sweets and cake for lent.

Charlize43 · 02/04/2026 12:57

Had a pet caterpillar as a child called Colin and is now triggered and traumatised?

TheNorns · 02/04/2026 12:58

Lent?

Twonewcats · 02/04/2026 13:00

It's Lent. He gave up sugary stuff

AClassicTrenchcoat · 02/04/2026 13:02

He was testing hot cross buns yesterday but mentioned he couldn’t eat one with nuts.
