Just found a shrivelled liquorish allsort in the bottom of my untidy bedside drawer. Do I eat it or throw it?

Ummmm why would you even consider eating it?!

DancingDelli · 02/04/2026 10:20

Eating a fresh liquorice is bad enough

Personally, in the interests of stopping waste and saving the planet I think you should eat it RIGHT NOW!

ToKittyornottoKitty · 02/04/2026 10:24

Just eat it

corlan · 02/04/2026 10:25

Try steaming it to get a bit of moisture into it - should be fine then 😁

ambercoast · 02/04/2026 10:29

We need a photo pls, then we can decide!

NotDarkGothicMama · 02/04/2026 10:31

If it's one of the pink or blue bobbly ones, eat it. Otherwise, bin. Those things are disgusting.

MagpiePi · 02/04/2026 10:36

Eat it!

....but make sure you sterilise it first in the time honoured way of either blowing on it or rubbing it on your trousers.

QueenMabby · 02/04/2026 10:38

Eat it of course. It’s a travesty to chuck out a liquorice allsort!

EstoyRobandoSuCasa · 02/04/2026 10:38

Bin it, especially if it's a coconut one. Rancid coconut can look normal but it's horrible.

Newthreadnewme11 · 02/04/2026 10:39

Haven’t had a licorice all sort in decades! Might just buy a bag for the nostalgia

Bjorkdidit · 02/04/2026 10:40

If it helps OP I found a chocolate Brazil nut under my chair last week that will have been there since Christmas.

I ate it. I enjoyed it and nothing bad happened.

dizzydizzydizzy · 02/04/2026 10:43

Pull the hair and bobby pins and bits of cotton wool off it and bung it down the hatch.

Luxlumos · 02/04/2026 10:43

If you pause to consider then you have to bin it, don’t you? The eating impulse has to be faster than the logic neurons.

(I’d have eaten it)

Hotpants123 · 02/04/2026 10:44

Dust it down and eat it - good for you.
I love liquorice!

eBay it - rare vintage liquorice allsort

HappilyDivorced89 · 02/04/2026 10:51

I've only just come across this thread but I'm invested now...did you eat it OP?

I totally would have - wouldn't even have gotten to MN to deliberate.

Out of curiosity, how old are we talking? Weeks? Months? Years old?

dudsville · 02/04/2026 10:53

Think of your teeth first!

watermybegonias · 02/04/2026 11:11

I worked in Basset's making liquorice allsorts for one week - that's all I lasted! The first thing I was told was I could eat as many as I liked, but I couldn't put half eaten ones back on the conveyor belt!!!!!

EstoyRobandoSuCasa · 02/04/2026 11:22

That’s not very hygienic! All those people will sometimes touch their mouths when eating them 😟

If you're ever in John Lewis and they have these out to sample, try them, they come in a few flavour variations and they're all delicious. Expensive but delicious. The sample lady went for a break and I took advantage. Mmmm.

Tillow4ever · 02/04/2026 11:29

I see your liquorice allsort and I raise you a Flyte Bar that went out of date in 2009.

Found a few weeks ago in the back of a cupboard (even more embarrassing is the fact we moved house 7 months after it went out of date, so we brought an out of date chocolate bar with us).

It used to be my absolute favourite. Can’t bring myself to throw it away. But if I open it and eat it I just know it will be disappointment and ruin my memory of how good they actually tasted.

Sigh. Photos attached for proof!
