What made you happy today?

Life can be a bit shit right now, so let's look at the good things!

For me it was my sister sending me updates on my little niece! 😁 Can't believe how much she's bloody grown in just a few months! 😱 She's the spitting image of my sis when she was a baby! Very much feeling like the proud aunty right now 😁🥰

I bumped into a friend I haven’t seen for ages as she’s living abroad and it was the loveliest surprise.

Reading stories to DC at bedtime.

Making and eating some top notch cinnamon buns.

A video of my baby grandson being pushed in a supermarket trolley.

Violets in the grass in the cemetery beside my flat. My favourite flowers.

Finding out that this Friday was a bank holiday. My colleague saying something really nice about me. DH bringing me home a big bag of mint humbugs, which are my new favourite thing and having a laugh with him while dinner was cooking.

My new worktops being fitted, I’ll be even happier though once our plumbing is done because I’m on week 4 without a sink!!

Walking the dogs early this morning and listening to the quiet and the bird song. Best way to start the day.

My lovely DM came over and did some garden fairy work. My Dsis and DN (babba 😁) came too.

Seeing how happy DS was when his best friend arrived for tea. And knowing that I get some 1:1 DD time when he goes off for a sleepover tomorrow. 🥰

Chatting to my oldest friend on the phone for a quick catch up. We were an hour and a half and we still had stuff to say!

My friend made cheesecake. Two biscoff ones and two Cadbury Caramel ones. She bought one over for me. It was incredible and made my day ... pic to follow so you can all see why 😀

opened the living room window at 6am as it was sunny, I’d been up since 5am (menopause insomnia) and I heard a bird, I believe was a great tit, singing “teacher, teacher, teacher”. It was pure joy.

My son picking daffodils for me and DH, plus having a sword fight with sticks with him.

Seeing lots of my seeds finally germinated despite all the cold spells.

Seeing DS2 having grown up into such a competent, caring man. I was with him today while he was dealing with agents regarding a flat he was hoping to rent, and he was so polite and across all the practicalities.
On the same trip, he was holding phone calls with and about a friend who is currently struggling, and he is clearly such a support to his pals. I was so impressed by his measured and kind advice, and so proud that he is the one that his friends turn to for compassion and kindness when they need it.
His brothers are lovely too, but today it was he who warmed my heart!

My work did an Easter egg hunt and in my office having had a pretty stressful school run I came in to the office to find 2 Cadbury’s cream eggs on my desk. That, and there was a baby sausage dog on my train on the way in.

Getting an email with my ticket to see Yungblud tomorrow night. Only bought my ticket last week as the gig had been sold out for ages and finally some tickets were put up for resale.

DD1 ( who graduated last year) has got a brilliant job after many rejections

It's been kind of a fraught day - but my DD sending me lots of ❤texts, walking my dog who is just the most adorable, happy thing on earth - just happy to be out walking and chasing her ball, and my front garden which has just burst into flower - daffodils, bluebells, meadowsweet - just stunning and uplifting. I love how in spring, the garden just bursts into life again, without me having to do a thing.

I ran my first ever sub-25 5k this morning, 30 seconds improvement on last time. That made me happy 😊
