Ideas for my good friend as her birthday is coming up! Early 50s, likes dog walking, travelling, plays netball, likes restaurants. Not a voucher please.

Jewellery and trinket boxes are always useful

I love listening to the radio although I use Alexa in the house but I have a fear of being out of the loop if there's a power cut . So i asked for a rechargeable radio which I can keep topped up and it will run for about 12 hours which would last me for about 2 days off and on .
The one I got was just under £20 on Amazon and its really a handy little thing,
Best thing is I can take into the bathroom to listen to Radio four while I have a soak .

A lovely pla t for my garden. Not very rock and roll but always makes me think of my friend. Its a "martini plant" after a particularly heavy martini drinking session.

Nofeckingway · 01/04/2026 21:55

I would hate this! A bag is such a personal choice and feeling obliged to use one I didn't like because it was a present would really annoy me.

DilemmaDelilah · 03/04/2026 03:00

There's a lot of very generic gifts being suggested, most of which I wouldn't like at all! I freely admit I am fussy though.

Two of the nicest things I was given at Christmas, by my husband who knows me well, were a bundle of my favourite pens (Papermate Inkjoy gel pens in dark purple) and 4 proper notebooks.

FleaDog · 03/04/2026 03:32

Teapigs chamomile teabags, a treat as there are much cheaper brands but these are lovely.
