Have a done a terrible thing?

I've hidden half a bag of crisps from DP.

I don't know what to call him, we've been together a long time, dont live together but do most of everything else together. I know some people get excited about using DP when it's not justified, but that what he is to me.

Anyway, I don't have crisps in the house as a general rule, but found a large bag of fancy ones left over from Christmas. I've had half with my soup for lunch, and was going to leave the remains of the bag on the side to have tomorrow.

DP will be over later and loves to eat. He's very active and always hungry. So I've hidden them on of the fridge because I know if he sees them they'll be gone. He'd ask, but I'm unlikely to say no to him finishing an open pack of crisps.

I don't begrudge him half a bag of old crisps, and if I told him I was saving them he'd be OK with that (although it would be odd of me?), but I was looking forward to them....so I've hidden them.

I was hoping this was going to be juicer, not gonna lie.

Enjoy your crisps tomorrow, OP.

Yes, people do start threads about the most mundane things.

(I know no-one has to read them, but the title did make it sound like it was going to be about something a bit more earth-shattering than half a bag of crisps.)

No OP, not terrible by any means. Sometimes we simply have to protect our wellbeing over that of other’s. Enjoy the rest of the bag

I’ve always had to hide ‘extras’ from ‘D’H,… he can eat what he sees, all day every day, year round!! (& to add insult to injury, never puts on an atom of weight 🙄).
I hope you enjoy anything you manage to hide & eventually consume in your own home 🙂💐.

But did you put it in the salad tray at the bottom of the fridge?

He loves salad, unfortunately. Well, it’s good he likes salad, but not good for hiding stuff.

Totally fine but YABU for having half a large bag of crisps for lunch - do people actually eat like this!

Horses7 · 02/04/2026 19:27

If you really, really love him you’d share the crisps with him …and let him have the last one!!

Lilmisspeacekeeper · 02/04/2026 21:13

I remember eating a full massive bar of galaxy by myself, I was watching a movie on my own and I didn't want to share with anyone!

It was such a lovely treat! However....

The guilt gnawed away at me so I went to the shop and bought another one, and shared that one with my husband😆

My point is, eat the crisps yourself and then go and buy another pack and say you found them and share them, husbands don't have to know everything! Sometimes it's nice to have a treat all to ourselves!

Enjoy your crisps😉

I always hide crisps from DH. He will find and eat any crisps. Especially giant share bags.

Bestfootforward11 · 04/04/2026 00:18

I do this with chocolate sometimes. Lives depend on it.

JoeyJava · 04/04/2026 02:02

I honestly don't blame you for hiding them. They WILL get stolen if you don't.
More importantly: make sure you have them clipped shut and bagged up to prolong their quality (as soon as they're opened, it's only a matter of time before they're barely worth eating)

Now for the judgement- what type of crisps, and what flavour?
