Has anyone had a lumbar puncture?

Has anyone had a lumbar puncture? I'm probably going to be having one this afternoon and would love to hear some personal experiences

Yes! They warned me it might give me a headache. It didn’t. It was fine.

Good you didn't have a headache. Could you feel the needle going in?

I can’t remember. It can’t have been that bad otherwise I would remember.

had a really odd feeling of slight dizziness and a bit wobbly afterwards
but I think that was because I’d convinced myself my brain would be rattling around because they’d taken some fluid from spinal cord that leads to brain

They aren't that bad. It's the thought if it thats worse than the procedure really.

its normal to feel a little lightheaded after and to be sore around the puncture site for a day or two but the procedure itself doesn’t hurt and doesn’t take long.

I’ve had 2. The best advice I was given was to drink something with caffeine in it if I got a headache. Worked really well.
They only take a few drops of the csf. If you can really curl yourself into a ball it opens up the space between your vertebrae and makes it easier for the doctor to get the needle in.
Hope it goes ok. It’s not nice but they don’t do it unless it’s necessary.
