Has anyone had success with a small claims court case?

A plumber has stolen £3500 from me and I'm currently going through small claims court. It is now in the hands of my local county court. It has caused 2 years of stress, anxiety, upset and worry. I dont know how he sleeps at night. Every time I think about it or have to do something to do with it I feel absolutely awful. Has anyone had any success taking someone to small claims court? I'm also unsure if Ive got his current address but no way of finding out if its still where he lives. Such a sad situation. I save for years and years to have enough money for a new bathroom. I dont know how someone could do this to another person. I wish this had never happened to me.

I did - for an inadequate end of tenancy clean. The company didn't respond to the claim so it was automatically found in my favour after the deadline. They then ignored requests for payment for a while until I gave them one more chance before taking further action but I did get my money (£500) in the end.

Yes I have. We got a judgement by default as the company didn't respond by the deadline to our claim They wouldn't pay either so Court bailiffs had to get the money.

The company then put in a counter claim, and we still won.

But you need to make sure your case is strong by following the correct procedure when making a claim. Have a look at Citizens Advice www.citizensadvice.org.uk/law-and-courts/legal-system/small-claims/

Yes

Although it was 1996. I got hacked off that a garage thought it could rip off 20 year old me.

The magistrate read my statement and awarded to me without me having to say a word. Full refund and compensation awarded.

I found it a very easy process.

Good luck with your case.

Ideally you do need to know the address though, as if it's sent somewhere that person no longer lives it can issues down the line

I have no way of confirming his current address. I even paid a UK tracing company who couldnt confirm his address.
