1912 Walworth Scouts drowning at Leysdown - film

In 1912 9 scouts from Walworth drowned in an accident near Leysdown. I just read something else that recalled this and remembered watching a film about it a couple of years ago.

But I can't find anything about the film online at all. Have I completely imagined it? I remember it being really well done and the funeral being really moving. As well as the boys asking permission to go etc.

Google is adamant no such film or tv drama exists. Does it ring a bell for anyone else?

Is it possible that you’re thinking of a different disaster? The 1952 flood in Lynmouth also killed some Scouts and has had a film made.

There’s a film in Spanish on TikTok.

Can't help with film but I assume the OP means this:

Yes that's the disaster that happened. I have a really strong memory of watching a film about it and knowing the outcome there was such a strong sense of doom of these young boys excited about their trip.

I can't have imagined it all. I can't even find a documentary woth dramatised bits let alone a full drama.

I've had a breakthrough when I googled again and tweaked my search slightly. It was a novel. One that maybe I dreamt about while I was reading it and that's why I have such strong images in my mind that I thought I'd watched it.

It's London Lies Beneath by Stella Duffy.
