Did anyone else find Woman of Substance hilariously bad and cheesy?

I keep seeing good reviews about Woman of Substance and also reviews about the book (ive not read the book)

Am I the only person who was laughing at how cheesy it was!!
Not knocking the acting which was great but the storyline and the script!

'Emma Hart i love you'
'Damn you Emma Hart'
'I am Emma Hart'
The use of her full name was relentless and making me laugh.

The sex scenes were ewww!! The husband in the big house picking all his women up before he shagged them?

Running to the top of a massive hill randomly ..all of them!

It was awful and I couldn't stop watching it!!

The original followed the book and was a good yarn. The new version was a hash up.

I’m on the penultimate episode and they’ve only just killed off Joe. I take it they’ve cut out Paul McGill then?

She’s done a lot of screaming out loud on those moors hasn’t she?

It was super cheesy but I loved it 😂 Was a bit gutted for her at the end with all of her efforts though 😳

I couldn’t finish the first episode - it was awful. Disappointing, as I loved the book and the Jenny Seagrove version

I enjoyed it immensely, and watched the 1985 one too off the BBC website. It was pretty dire though
