I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in the conservatory, with dd1 and boy cat. Girl cat is most likely back in bed with dd2.

Dd1's home for Easter this weekend - she booked some events in London with her friends for next weekend. She's currently applying her make up to go to work.

Today's plan is a trip into town with dd2 for pens for her exams - she wants specific ones - and a few other bits. Then home to start prepping the kitchen to decorate, after a trip to B&Q last night. I need to remove a vinyl wall sticker if anyone has any tips for doing that?

Later on, I might spend an hour sorting peg dolls to paint over the Easter holidays since dd2 has plans to attend every revision session school are offering.

Not sure what we'll have for tea yet 🤔, maybe the curry dd2 fancied.

This evening, it'll be an hour or two of crochet or my book, then a fairly early night ready to start decorating tomorrow.

What about all of you?

Arrived back from Lanzarote yesterday so a little tired.

Getting house ready for relatives to stay today. Collecting an order from M&S this morning and need to buy breakfast stuff.

Will do some laundry later and that’s all I can get my head around right now.

Have a great day X

mamaduckbone · 28/03/2026 08:10

Morning @lucysmamand all.
I’m still in bed with tea - need to get up shortly to get ready for my run.

Dh is at work so I’m on rugby duty with ds2. Ds1 got home for Easter yesterday but he’s spending today and this evening with his gf so won’t really see him. We had a lovely evening yesterday though - it’s so nice to have everyone back. We watched Zootropolis 2 (yep, with 2x20 year olds and a 16 year old!!)

Nothing much else planned today - I might try to get on the garden for an hour later this afternoon and need to sort a few bits out for our holiday next week, but mostly need to chill. It’s been a busy term.

Currently eating a gluten free carrot cake cupcake at the cafe at DS's first wrestling competition. Amazed that the cafe has several gluten free options, even got a sandwich which I'll have later. And looking forward to watching DS wrestle as I've never actually seen him do it, no idea if he's good at it or not!

Good morning @lucysmam &all, back from a beautiful sunny dog walk, a tad chilly but warm out of the breeze.
The dogs are snoozing, I’m enjoying a coffee and DH is eating his breakfast.
I will clean the kitchen today, tidy the living room then back to my slow stitching. I might take it down to my Shed, with a coffee and an audiobook. I can put the heater on for a bit and it’ll be warm.
My breathlessness isn’t improving, I’m pretty unfazed about what the respiratory consultant will say on Tuesday, it’s probably not going to be good news 🤷🏼‍♀️
Anyway, it’s a lovely sunny day, the clocks go forward tonight and spring has sprung!

Morning lucysmam

You're bright eyed and bushy tailed today 😊

We've been plagued by illness for weeks now, hit us all one by one so it feels like we've been ill forever.

DC2 has a horrid cough now but she has asthma which gives her a cough. She is going to rest this weekend and she'll be grand. Hopefully we're over the tonsillitis / ear infection / flu type thing that has hit the household. We've all had a different illness!!

Swimming for DC1 and DC3 at 9.30, then we are going to take our library books back and grab some nice bread from the fancy bakers for lunch. I'm doing avo, scrambled eggs and tomatoes on toast.

We're in the final stages of finishing the living room. We decided to pull up the carpet and bring up the floorboards a few weeks ago. It is looking fantastic (DP has done most of the work around his actual job so it's taken a while) but today me and the kids need to start culling all the crap we have so we'll do a charity pile, a bin pile and I have few bits - wooden toy highchair and wooden toy dolls bed - that we're giving to the neighbours (as well as some other toys the kids no longer use)

Just booked our train tickets for our May holiday and will start the passport renewal applications soon for our August trip.

It's cold and sunny here and after weeks of someone feeling poorly / not sleeping etc I feel quite chirpy and positive this morning. Helps that we now have 2 weeks off to look forward too. Although I'm working next week but kids heading to grandparents and I WFH.

No idea for dinner yet. May grab a Thai take away for the adults and make the kids some burgers as they love a homemade burger.

Film and lazy evening! Bliss.

Not by choice @Crunchymum ! Dd1 got up early to shower before work so the cats took that as their sign to wake me up for breakfast then race round the house at break-neck speed 🤣.

I have two cats myself so understand the plight. If they so much as see an eyeball open then it's fair game to expect me up for the day 😀

Love them to bits but do feel slightly envious when they head off after breakfast for their 8 hour nap!

Bringyourfoldingchair · 28/03/2026 09:02

Morning everyone. DH has been away since Wednesday so after a busy week I am glad it’s the weekend. Currently sat in bed with the 3DCs running mad around the room. Have had a coffee but will get up now and get the DCs dressed and some breakfast.

I have some washing and ironing I want to get through this morning and then we are off to our caravan. DH is due back later and will meet us there. Still deciding if I should bring the cat with us or get mum to pop in and feed her while we’re gone. I think she’ll be lonely but the car journeys getting too much for her (she’s an old girl and she will either boke or poop enroute).

Not sure what our plans later will be. It’s to rain in afternoon but if it dries it hopefully a little while in the park and a nice walk along the seafront before settling down with a wee g and t and some nice food (not sure what yet). Have a great day all!

dicentra365 · 28/03/2026 09:02

Good morning @lucysmam and all, just enjoying my first coffee and then im going to take dd to dance and go for a walk around the country park by her dance class while I wait. It’s a nice morning and there are always loads of birds around so I’ll use the Merlin app as I go.
After that Im meeting friends for lunch, one has had a really hard time recently so it will be nice to catch up.
Aside from that, my house looks like a bomb has hit so I need to do all the usual sorting and tidying as I have family for lunch tomorrow. Have a great day all.

DilemmaDelilah · 28/03/2026 09:05

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. You're very early today!

It is a beautiful sunny morning here, but very chilly. My conservatory certainly isn't warm enough to sit in! I have the heater in there on just enough to take the worst of the chill off, but we don't need to use it all the time so we don't heat it to a comfortable temperature. It is our dining room (we also have a small table in the kitchen) but we don't use it if it's just the two of us. At present I'm using the dining table (well covered) to germinate my seeds. They are doing well - I thought my marrow seeds were never going to sprout but in the last week they have come up and are looking strong and healthy now. We got the raised beds filled on Thursday and I'm itching to plant things out!

Mr Dilemma is about to go to Iceland (the shop, not the country) to pick up a couple of beef joints - they are on offer at the moment and I really fancy roast beef. The other one will go to make stew, eventually. Far away daughter is bringing Houdini down in a few weeks and I think stew will go down very well. Houdini had his passport photo taken a few weeks ago and he looks so grown up!

I have a wash ready to put in the machine, I'm going to plant some nasturtium (or as Mr Dilemma insists on calling them 'nasturtiun' ) seeds to plant out with the tomatoes in a month or so. I planted sugar snap peas yesterday. We bought some celery plants yesterday so those can go in fairly soon. I'm only growing things that are expensive to buy or that I don't use a huge amount of.... So no potatoes, onions, carrots or onions.

Nothing else planned - I have several eBay and Amazon orders arriving today. Cold meat, jacket potatoes and salad for our evening meal today, so nothing really to prepare for that.

Have a lovely day everyone - or at least the best day possible.

Rowgtfc72 · 28/03/2026 09:06

Morning!
Second cuppa in front of the F1 quali rerun. Sausage dog just crawled off the sofa for a drink and is now back and under the blanket warming my feet.
Cleaning here today- had a week off work so need the house tidy for Monday. Dh fitting his new subframe to his classic mini. Don't expect to see dd for a while.
Need to walk the sausage while it's still glorious sunshine.

Simonjt · 28/03/2026 09:09

Good morning, it’s really dull here today.

My husband is trying really hard to give me the cold shoulder but it isn’t working 🤣 Yesterday I managed to lock my car keys in the car, I was near a fire station so I went to see if they could help. They were all in the onsite gym so four topless firefighters came to my aid and managed to get the car open for me after about twenty minutes. They then asked if I would like a photo, for our children of course. Then they gave me a tour of the fire station which meant I missed school pick up, but it would have been rude to decline after they had been so kind.

We’re on the train on a day out, so he’s trying really hard to ignore me but he isn’t very good at it, we’re heading to an island none of us have been to before, the weather is really calm so we’ll row over, but possibly get a taxi boat back.

This evening will be quiet and at home I think, we’ve all had a very busy week.

MrsTulip · 28/03/2026 09:22

I've been up a while baked the sponges for a Victoria sponge cake I'm making for a friend, will fill it later. Done two loads of laundry. Now having a brew and a chill. Need to do some reading for college residential week so will do a chapter of that in a bit. Need to run the hoover round before my mum comes over this afternoon. Friend picking cake up anytime between 2-4pm. Need to go to the supermarket at some point.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 28/03/2026 09:37

Good morning @lucysmam & the Saturday crew. Another week gone! Can’t believe it’s Easter next weekend. We’ve had eggs in store for weeks. I still need to buy some, including crème eggs & caramel ones for a hunt. DD17 has requested one as it’s her last year before adulthood & her GF will be staying over so she can join in. Can’t decide what egg I’d like. Up at 7ish, made a cuppa & pottered until it was time for DM’s medication. I’m staying until Monday. Working a 4 hour shift in a bit which will no doubt be very busy, especially as the sun’s out here in Cornwall, then doing a food shop for my folks at Tescos. Just having a 2nd cuppa. No brekkie. Doing pasta, pesto, peas & grated cheese for tea. I’ve been living on ready meals so good to have a change. We’ll watch BGT tonight. Have a good day all ❤️

gingercat02 · 28/03/2026 09:37

Morning all, I'm just up, but having a coffee and watching the Japanese F1 qualifying.
I'm out for lunch with the work crew, seeing one of them off for mat leave next week.
We have booked a table for cocktails afterwards so could get messy.
This evening will very much depend on the outcome of the afternoon.
Have a good day everyone

Tangerinesattack · 28/03/2026 09:38

Morning all
Very dreich here but it's been extremely changeable so might brighten up later. Just waiting for DH to bring me a cup of tea in bed. It was our wedding anniversary yesterday - 16 years! So we had some fizzy wine and a takeaway. Not sure if it's the fizz or last week's busyness but I'm knackered today.

A few chores await but I've cleared off much of the to do list over the week so nothing too intense. There's a skateboarding event on in town so I'll take DS but that's not till the afternoon so we can have a pottering about morning. DH is about to make some poached eggs with bacon and hollandaise.

Bath with a magazine later and either steak or egg Fu Yung for dinner. Have a lovely day everyone.

gingercat02 · 28/03/2026 09:38

Hairdryer for your wall stickers @lucysmam. DS had a huge one on his bedroom wall, it came off quite easily.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 28/03/2026 09:43

Good morning lucysmam and others. Happy anniversary Tangerine!
I've stripped the bed, and got the whites in the washing machine. Then I went to Aldi to stock up and filled my new car with petrol. Met a neighbour so we had a quick chat but its really cold and breezy here, so didn't linger. I'm heading out now for second breakfast. Have a good day all.

reversegear · 28/03/2026 09:47

Always so inspiring as I’m still sat in bed drinking coffee, not a great atmosphere in our house at the moment as we are doing marriage counselling and someone is in a sulk, and trying to drag down my mood as well. So I’m going to shower jump in the car and head to the gym, take myself for a coffee and potter around our lovely local town and avoid the sulky pants, I’ll leave him to the domestic stuff.

Holymolyrigmorole · 28/03/2026 09:53

This afternoon I’m going dancing, hehehe. It’s a club night afternoon for people who want to drink, dance and have fun AND be home in time for an early night 🤗. It finishes at 8.30.

Sadly though I am 56 and have not learnt when it’s good to stop so it’s quite likely that this will turn into a full on night out that simply started a lot earlier than usual 😆

mrswhiplington · 28/03/2026 10:04

@Simonjt Four topless firefighters!! What a treat 😍

Rainbow1235 · 28/03/2026 10:07

Good morning lucysmam and to u all. I’ve woken up with a cough and sore throat so will take tablets throughout the day. Popping to see my brother in law and sister in law as they had very sad news about their daughter in the week . Then will go straight to Asda as want beef for dinner tomorrow as they all down . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

zingally · 28/03/2026 10:13

Having a lazy day today, despite being wide awake by 6am.

Took advantage of the early wake-up to be out the door for the food shop, and my free Greggs mocha, and then home by 8:30.

Currently waiting for the washing machine to finish, so I can put it out on the line. It's quite cold, but there's some decent sun and a breeze, so I'm hopeful it'll dry.

Tea will be some KFC-style drumsticks and thighs that caught my eye in Asda as a seasonal special. Will do them with some cheesy mash and gravy.

DilemmaDelilah · 28/03/2026 10:33

@Rainbow1235 if you haven't already got your beef, and you have an Iceland nearby, they have beef joints on special offer! Less than £10 per kilo for Aberdeen Angus.

lucysmam · 28/03/2026 10:45

Excellent @gingercat02 thank you! I'll maybe do it when we get in.
