Ive been in hospital for nine weeks rushed in with massive infection. Every time the try to reduce the antibiotics or change them to oral I spike temperatures and they have to restart. I obviously have an untouchable infection,

I have squamous cell cancer with unknown origin. Its been three years two years of chemo kept it in place but now its growing in my lymph nodes. Surgery not possible as i would bleed too much. Immunotherapy was supposed tonsave me but Ive never really had. chance to give it a go due to my bad luck,, vascular surgery, then taking my shin skin off then colitus! Infeel cursed!

my consultant is willing to try immuno again but he honestly doesnt think my temp will stay down long enough.

the other option is home on profilactic antibiotics and a care package. I feel like this is the only option really. I miss my cats. I feel so well in myself its so unfair. What started off the size of a peanut is going to kill me and god knows when that will be. Judging by the whispering and my consultant telling me to start smoking again it must be soon.

I feel sick!

Your lovely friend won’t want anything except a smile and a ‘thank you’ from you. but if you really want to buy her something what about something like a rosebush.

They are stopping my antibiotics and ignoring any temperatures in case it’s the cancer causing them. Home next week.

So glad to hear from you dear Each.
Can one of your neices or siblings come to be with you.

I read your threads over the weekend - you are one amazing lady !! I am your fan.

NobodysGirl · 31/03/2026 13:41

Will the immunotherapy be back on if temperature doesnt spike again next week?

NobodysGirl · 31/03/2026 13:44

After reading your threads, I still can't believe they did not just take the groin lump out through surgery back in Nov 2022

It never spread anywhere else touchwood , but came through the skin instead and got infected....

I know it was prob cos the tumor was wrapped around an artery etc, but they had to bypass the artery anyway eventually last year.

LunaTheCat · 31/03/2026 13:54

OP sending you strength and love , all across the oceans from New Zealand.

Glad you are going home to your cats xx

345grey · 31/03/2026 14:57

Sending you love! Glad to hear you will be able to get home to be with your cats.

Do you have a Maggie’s centre? They have cancer nurses who are also trained therapists and can help you talk through all your options etc. I think your hospice would have a similar person who can hold your hand and help you to navigate the choices you have at this stage.

xxx

You are totally right and I’ve had this conversation today. I really think the primary has gone. That lump should’ve been removed but they said it was attached to an artery and the primary could still be at large. The palliative consultant said I look so well I have to have a chance.

I know you're NHS staff and therefore probably never considered private out of loyalty - but can you ask for a referral for a second opinion, maybe go private if you have to, to see if there is a surgical option - with the lump / open wound goes the infection that won't clear ? Unless it has already gotten into your blood stream , in which case you would not be typing coherently so there's still time to do so?

I hope you can get your family down to advocate strongly and/or your colleagues at the hospital and friends. I feel you have a chance too.

Please keep us posted when you can on here/on the stage 4 threads. May the force be with you.

I got thrown out at 9am I feel all confused. I made the mistake of looking at my tumour when they were dressing it they’ve put a big bag on it and it’s draining but my god it’s massive. I was heartbroken it looks horrendous. I don’t know how they will manage it on the community. I’ve got bags and bags of dressings. I’m just in bed with toast and two cats. One is very grumpy.

Im pretty sure im on my way out 🙁

I'm so glad you're home with your beloved cats. I'm so truly sorry for all you've been through though. My heart goes out to you. I really hope the community care is acceptable, at least.

Seawolves · 10/04/2026 12:53

Beautiful cats! Wishing you peace (and good DNs with excellent dressings skills!)

EachandEveryone · 10/04/2026 12:54
