Tips/packing hacks for moving house?

My DN is moving into her first flat next week! I am helping her but to be honest I’ve never been very good at packing and moving I’ve generally just shoved all my shit in a box and dumped it in the car.

Any “hacks” or tips for moving would be greatly appreciated, even if it seems basic and obvious. We are probably going to hire a van as I don’t think my Fiat 500 is the best car for the job.

Honestly? If you can afford it, hire professional movers. I've done it both ways and doing it yourself with a van is infinitely more stressful than having a team of movers turn up and do it for you. Having a massive declutter and getting rid of stuff before moving day definitely helps too.

Label every box!! Keep an overnight type bag to hand with essentials - toiletries, couple of changes of clothes, medications etc then you don’t need to unpack everything immediately. Ditto the kettle and a couple of mugs, tea etc!

First job once you've carried in all boxes etc is make up the bed. That way when you've spent all day getting sorted and she's exhausted, she can just flake out. Also pack a box which is the first thing to be unloaded into the kitchen. In it put kettle, mugs, tea/coffee/milk/sugar/favoured beverage/biscuits. Stop every so often for a break.
