Suddenly getting static shocks from clothes and lights, how to reduce it?

I seem to currently be a ball of static. Wearing the same clothes as i did earlier in the year, but over the last 3 weeks or so I can't touch anything without a powerful shock. Plus I take off clothes and they crackle as I remove them.

I'm getting bored of it and tentatively turn off/on lights ... and it bloody hurts.

Any ideas? Anything I can hold that will earth me?

I get this when wearing ugg boots. Is it footwear ?😃

I get that if the air is particularly dry - have you been running a dehumidifier or air conditioner maybe?

I don't think its footwear as I alternate between various pairs, including slippers and it still happens. And no, no dehumidifier or air conditioner in the house. It's strange that its only been over the last few months
