PG tips with full fat milk and half of a teaspoon of sugar (im annoyed that I can’t cut sugar out completely).

I’m surprised PG tips is not more popular. And also that nobody seems to drink full fat milk.

I do, always full fat, I call it blue milk.

tinyspiny · 26/03/2026 01:02

English breakfast tea with semi skimmed milk

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 26/03/2026 01:56

Clipper tea, with milk. Sugar in tea is a mugs game. It's a surefire way to using your whole sugar allowance just on drinks. If you can get used to it without you can then have the odd biscuit or cake.

I stopped taking sugar in my tea about 20 years ago.
Since then I've enjoyed my favourite black tea with a good splash of semi skimmed milk.

mondaytosunday · 26/03/2026 03:21

PG Tips, weak, semi skimmed milk and two sweeteners. I’m a type 1 diabetic.
Does diet soda affect you?

GoldenCupsatHarvestTime · 26/03/2026 07:16

I love tea so I have loads of kinds. Generally Decaf Yorkshire with a splash of milk but also:
Spicy Chai + milk and sweetener or honey
Rooibos with lemon or milk
Earl Gray with just milk
chamomile (no add ins)
Apple and cinnamon (no add ins)
Jujube with lemon)

reluctantbrit · 26/03/2026 07:34

TeaPig All Day brew or loose tea from Good and Proper. Black, no milk, no sugar.

Fatiguedwithlife · 26/03/2026 07:35

Aldi or Lidl gold label tea (as good as Yorkshire) with a good slug of milk. Delicious 😋

BitOutOfPractice · 26/03/2026 07:37

Yorkshire tea (made in a pot) and a splash of skimmed milk. The way god intended.

DeanElderberry · 26/03/2026 07:40

During the day (until about 4 pm) Barry's tea with full fat milk.

Mid-morning, cocoa/cacao made with water, no sugar, about the same amount of milk as I'd put in tea.

After dinner, herbal tea, nothing added.

Left over cold herbal tea, with a bit of added water, is an okay sugar-free cold drink.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 26/03/2026 07:42

Black Yorkshire tea
Redbush tea
Mint tea (just mint from the garden or pot & add nettle in spring)
Chamomile tea (bags)
Linden flower tea (flowers collected from the trees)
Liquorice and peppermint tea (bags) these are nice and sweet tasting if you're feeling the lack of sugar.
I also had a chocolate mint plant which made a very nice tea but I think it's dead now.
Coffee with full fat milk mmmmm.....

timesaretough · 26/03/2026 07:44

Tetley tea with 2 teabags so it’s nice and strong with milk but no sugar in a big pint cup.

Jk987 · 26/03/2026 07:45

You should change the title of your post to mention diabetes to get the most relevant responses. I thought it was a general chat about tea preferences!

CinnamonEstella · 26/03/2026 07:52

Ringtons gold, made in a pot, black, no milk or sugar.

I used to have milk and sugar, weaned myself off them and now I hate the taste of them, black tea all the way!

If I run out of Ringtons, M&S gold.

Enko · 26/03/2026 07:53

Earl Grey no sugar or milk.

I dont care for milk in tea I didnt grow up in the UK so it was not the norm for me. However having lived in the UK for 35 years I have learned that if I get a standard black tea it needs milk. Pg tips, tetley, yorkshire. Etc Imo is not good tea.

I would explore other teas see where your tastebuds are. For me its 100% Earl Grey I have loved that tea since my teens. I also drink a tea I get from France (Palais des Thes) thats ha citrus with the Bergamont.
My friend loves lapsang souchong.
Dh Tea and Toast from bird and blend
Have a look around and try different teas see what you like.

I also find buying tea leaves and making a proper tea pot (you can get small ones) makes the experience more pleasurable than plonking a tea bag in a cup. The tea leaves uses more senses.

CelticSilver · 26/03/2026 07:54

Earl Grey, skimmed milk, hot.

AliasGrape · 26/03/2026 08:02

Yorkshire tea, strong, dash of whatever milk is going.

In the evening I usually have a cup of the Yorkshire bedtime tea, again with tiny bit of milk. It’s decaf and has a nutmeg/ vanilla flavour to it.

I’ll also drink green tea, peppermint/ Moroccan mint tea or camomile and I just drink those teabag+ water.

Those are the ones I regularly have in, but I do like trying different ‘flavours’ now and then. I like Earl Grey and Lady Grey and will usually have with dash of milk but sometimes lemon or just with the tea and water. I like the spiced chai ones (with milk) and like Rooibos (without)

I don’t like fruit teas particularly but I had a spiced pear one recently which was lovely. Again just with water.

Tallestone · 26/03/2026 08:06

I have Aldi tea bags with full fat milk quite strong. I've gone off coffee after a stomach bug so I'm all on the tea. Also like chai tea

Dartania · 26/03/2026 08:07

Any decaf. Fairly weak and black.

BiscoffCheesecakes · 26/03/2026 08:09

Any type of ordinary tea, fairly strong, no sugar, splash of milk

tortiecat · 26/03/2026 08:14

PG Tips, brewed fairly strong with lots of milk. If you go cold turkey on sugar/sweeteners in tea for about a week OP you will end up preferring it without (although it’s a bit of a sad week!)

tedibear · 26/03/2026 08:21

Omg not many like it sweet 😳 Mine is milk with 3 sweetners or sugar. Prefer Tetley. Moved to sweetners a few yrs ago. I know prob no better for u but least little to no calories.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/03/2026 08:31

No milk, weakish PG Tips, one Sweetex now and then.

I’m not usually into herbal teas, but I really like the Pukka 3 Ginger.

Shinyhappyapple · 26/03/2026 08:33

Porkwithapplesauce · 25/03/2026 22:30

Tesco red label tea bags and a tiny drop of skimmed milk.

Snap!

Purplepassionflowers · 26/03/2026 08:37

I love Yorkshire tea!

I have it weak to medium (I don't like it when the tea bag is left in too long as it then tastes bitter).

I have a tiny splash of semi skimmed milk, but I'm thinking of trying skimmed instead.
