The official one seems to cost £15 Shock - is it the best one? Any expertise welcomed!

My daughter used the James May one (as did all her friends) and they all passed

ClubMedAlternative · 25/03/2026 17:56

Thanks so much, I will look into that one. Good to have proof it works!
Anyone else? I am also interested to hear from anyone who’s tried the rather expensive official one!

Theory 4-in-1 is good and about £5

Another vote for the James May app but I will say that I found it easier to get my head around the hazard perception on the official website.

Aaarrgghh so I need to get the official app AND another one!ShockConfusedGrin
Seriously, thank you for the suggestions!

Make sure the learner knows there’s a hazard perception test as well as the questions. My son didn’t realise, I didn’t know as it was only the questions when I did it, so he failed because he didn’t know how to answer that part of it.

Thank you - yes he does know about that as his elder brother did it a while ago (hence no knowledge of the current apps!). It’s definitely a lot harder than when I did it back in the Dark Ages!

Ha ha I know what you mean! The theory test had literally just been introduced when I was learning, so I was one of the first people to take it. My husband is older so never had to do a theory test.

i realised I forgot to answer the app bit. I downloaded an app and then got the hazard perception app too after I found out that was a thing. I think it’s supposed to be the official one and I seem to think the questions one was around a fiver and then they was an offer to buy the other one a bit cheaper if you owned the first (I swear I didn’t see that when I got it originally…. But I now think my son just sent me the family sharing request for it so I didn’t see the app itself). It’s just called Official DVSA Car Theory and then the other one says Hazard Perception.
