Well done me

I’ve gone from having a vape in my mouth 24/7 to being vape free for a month. And I just wanted to celebrate on here as nobody in real life is that bothered.

I’ve been nagged by my husband to stop. My dad has begged me to stop. My kids have asked me to stop. I don’t expect recognition from my children as they are young.

But it’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done ever. It’s been really hard and harder to stop than smoking. My husband has quit vaping a few years ago so he knows how hard it is.

but I’ve had no encouragement (unless I’ve said, that’s been 2 weeks now, I get a “yeah you’re doing well”). Why don’t people just give you a bloody pat on the back? Instead, I’ve been accused of being a bit moody. And why are you so tired.

so just want to shout on here IVE STOPPED VAPING AND IT WAS REALLY BLOODY HARD. WELL DONE ME.

absolutley brilliant well done you!

49mumof6 · 24/03/2026 11:04

Well done, it is amazing I quit smoking Nov 24 and started vaping, in March 25 I got bilateral pulmonary embolisms and I was told I needed to stop vaping, that was the shock I needed, I have been vape free now since 5th March 2025, I’m trying to get my husband to stop vaping as he is a diabetic with asthma but I know he will do it when he is ready. Be proud of yourself it is very difficult to stop and stay stopped 💖

Farewelltothatid · 24/03/2026 11:14

Well done you OP.

You are doing brilliantly.

I'd heard vaping was harder to give up than smoking. I smoked briefly many years ago and I know how hard giving that up was so I can imagine how hard stopping vaping is.

Yes ideally your DH and your family should be giving you encouragement. But ultimately you are doing this for you. It's something really positive to make your health and your life better. So feel free to be really proud of yourself and give yourself a pat on the back as and when required.

Nevermind17 · 24/03/2026 11:16

Huge well done to you! I’m in awe. I am desperate to stop.

SardinesOnButteredToast · 24/03/2026 11:23

Many MANY congratulations. I quit smoking 27 years ago and it was one of the most difficult things I ever did. So impressed with you! My closest friends told me later that I was an absolute shit to be near for months but they didn't want to tell me in case it derailed me. Keep going and very very well done indeed. God damn warrior material.

WatermelonSalad1 · 24/03/2026 11:29

Well done you

I know how hard that is

Any tips?

nottodayfgs · 24/03/2026 11:32

Amazing!! Well done OP, keep at it 💪🏻

1wokeuplikethis · 24/03/2026 11:55

Thank you for the support and encouragement - that’s all I wanted to hear!

I used patches for the first 3 weeks but then they started to make me feel sick. I don’t like the gum. I bought a “breathlace” which was rubbish. The only thing that helped massively was nicotine lozenges which I’m still using. Willpower. And eating - sadly put on 6lbs

but I’ll deal with that later.

You are right, overall this is for me. I want to watch my children grow up and their children if I’m really lucky.

Well done, it's very difficult giving up these habits. I gave up smoking a long time ago after about 12 failed attempts.
They are self destructive really. When you look at it this way you can feel really proud of your self discipline, you exercised the ultimate in "self care". Go you, you are an amazing example to us all.💐

BlakeCarrington · 24/03/2026 12:42

Hooray for you! It’s a hard habit to break and you’re doing brilliantly.

FuckTheCisTermSystem · 24/03/2026 14:55

SardinesOnButteredToast · 25/03/2026 17:52

Just reposting to tell you to keep up the good work. It feels absolutely incredible when you're free of the cravings. Like literally being able to take a deep breath.

DramaAlpaca · 25/03/2026 17:53

Well done you, be very proud of yourself!

NovemberMorn · 25/03/2026 17:58

Well done you.😎
Don't worry about the weight, I was the same when I stopped cigarette smoking decades ago...it'll come off when you stop the 'comfort eating', which so many do after stopping smoking.

With the vape money you are aving, treat yourself to something nice to wear for the summer.

Mischance · 25/03/2026 18:00

Pat on the back here! Well done!

Catinhel · 25/03/2026 18:23

Well done you!

People don’t realise how addictive vaping is, as it’s promoted as an aid to stop smoking.
They don’t realise that nicotine keeps you just as hooked into the habit, so you have done brilliantly to manage to stop.

WatermelonSalad1 · 25/03/2026 18:41

@1wokeuplikethis that's really good
Interesting to hear the breathing thing wasn't helpful. I thought they looked quite good.

SardinesOnButteredToast · 28/03/2026 11:53

How are you getting on OP (and any other recent quitters?)

WatermelonSalad1 · 28/03/2026 16:31

I've cut back

It's a start

I am irritable, though

Weirdconditionaltense · 28/03/2026 16:37
