As above or below !

I last went on the Eurostar about 20 years ago !I remember gard du bord to scary so I'm wondering to safely get a taxi .

And if we can't take food to the train is there anywhere to buy lunch before we get on it or will it be good food ?

@tanstaafl that's so helpful thanks does each person get them ? Or one for a family it maybe old news but ive read they have people watching for rappers and if you do the wrong thing it can get quite scary.

Per person. Though @mrssquidink mentions you can buy the cards on the Eurostar, we didn’t see any indication of that ( e.g. posters ) while we were on board so got them at GdN.

Only thing we found confusing was identical looking machines , but one was for topping up your card, the other was topping up or buying then topping up.
The machines let you choose one of 4 languages as you start the process, English is one of the languages. It’s €2 for the pass itself.

You hold it briefly against a green swirly image on the barrier machines as you go into a metro or RER line.

We ( two 60 year olds ) didn’t feel unsafe on the metro any more or less than any other city metro systems but we weren’t out in the evenings.

All the stations we used have platforms with full length 8ft high automated doors so there’s no danger of falling onto the track, the trains were frequent, less than 5 minutes.

@tanstaafl thank you .
We don't think we will be using the metro except for a few journeys but we are going to versailles

Theres an official, free Versailles app which you can use as an audio guide, think it’s called Palace of Versaille.

Make sure to book ahead and pick your time slot. As you walk towards the gates , the queues for the time slots are on the left. There were staff walking along the queues making sure you were in the correct queue. You can hire bicycles and ‘golf carts’ to explore the grounds afterwards and boats for the lake.Took 35mins from Saint Michel Notre Dame RER station to Versaille Chateux Rive Gauche RER station.

@tanstaafl that's so incredibly helpful thank you . Love the sound of the golf carts!
