DS has just got over a nasty bout of gastro and is only now able to face eating. Looking for recipes or suggestions for nutritious/calorific snacks and light meals to help him get his energy and colour back- the poor bugger looks like a grey husk!

Thanks

start small and plain e.g. a piece of toast, boiled new potatoes, plain biscuits, chicken and rice. and i'd get him a good probiotic.

Grilled cheese on toast? Boiled eggs, soup. Basically ask him what he feels like eating.

Toast and jam. Poached or scrambled eggs?? Soup and toast?

If DC still suffering from dehydration fluids with electrolytes added can help.
I would avoid anything with fat in it stick to plain pasta, white rice, plain potato anything that doesn't have a lot of fibre.
Plain toast, avoid dairy and sweet sugary drinks.
Hope your your DC feels better soon, children usually bounce back quicker than adults do.

Forgot to mention plain crackers to nibble on, applesauce, bananas, plain yoghurt with probiotics will help also, plain cooked chicken and rice when your child is well over gastroenteritis.

Thank you everyone. He's had scrambled eggs, plain boiled rice, rich tea biscuits and lots of fennel tea. Feeling more human thankfully!
