Anti money laundering check?

I’m viewing a property next week and in their confirmation email the agents say that if I put in an offer I will be subject to one of these checks, at a cost of £95. A little internet research shows that each check actually costs them £2-6. I can’t see a possibility of getting one done myself. It just seems a great money spinner for the agents though. Please does anyone know if I can organise my own and provide it? I know people do have to make money but it seems a massive profit for them.

Estate agents shouldn't demand this fee as part of their service in passing your offer on to the vendor.

We got stung for that. Don't pay it.

Thanks. One local agent charges £25. The agent selling the house I’m interested in - £95.
It’s a nice little earner if 2 or 3 people want to put offers in, isn’t it?
