Recommendations for a good mattress brand and a reliable mattress supplier that will deliver and take away the old mattress.

I'd be really grateful for any recommendations for a company that you've used to deliver a new mattress and to take away the old one.

I'd also be grateful for recommendations on a brand of mattress that you've bought that has lasted well.

I'm thinking of a king size sprung mattress with possibly a memory foam layer?

I know I'd definitely like a sprung mattress that is going to good enough quality to do the job for at least 8 years.

I'd like it to be fairly firm. It's for someone weighing 15 stone.

The budget for a king size one is in the region of £500. Not sure if that will buy a good quality one?

I'd be most grateful for any tips.

Thanks!

Not a rock solid mattress but one that's not too squishy either! 😀

Harry Benmore is really good, I went through a lot of sites looking for my new one and I love it

Simba and Emma are supposed to be good. They win lots of awards, anyway.

I used Dreams. Had a look in store, ordered online, they took my old bed and mattress away as well.

Hypnos are the best. You get what you pay for, but they are around £3-4k. They often have them as returns or Hypnos factory outlets for around £700 on eBay, which is how i got one.

Oh and I wouldn’t go for anything rolled up in a box. I’m honestly shocked at my new one, love it so so much
the customer service was incredible and it’s properly solid and deep (not sponsored, but I did get 10% off for a small mark on delivery)

Simba and Emma are often cited on here as being really uncomfortable. I suspect the problem is buying a mattress you’ve never lain on. We bought a new mattress 2 or 3 years ago, and spent the afternoon lying on, and trying out, different mattresses in a bed showroom, before buying a Hypnos. It cost around £2k. For a lower budget, I’d try IKEA, but you really need to try out mattresses. What you find comfortable, may not be what other people do.

We went to Dreams. They have a machine that suggests the mattresses that would suit you (and when it suggested a mega expensive one, the salesman showed us the equivalent in the more budget range!) and they also took our old one away.

I would always try before I buy. Find a showroom near you and go along and see what they have.

We have a Staples mattress that is like new after 20 years and I see that Bensons for beds stock them.

My last mattress was an inexpensive one from John Lewis. I don’t particularly recommend the mattress itself, but the two delivery men were happy to remove the front room mattress for recycling (booked when I ordered), move the back bedroom mattress to the front bedroom, move the old mattress from my bed to the back bedroom before putting the new mattress on my bed.
