Blackout blinds or curtains?

Which are better at fully blacking out the room? I was thinking curtains but then I read they are good for insulation too but not sure if that will be great in the summer! Does anyone have blackout blinds or curtains that are really good and could link me to them?

I’ve got both. The blind is good enough though so rarely close the curtains, I sometimes work nights and find it difficult to sleep during the summer. Mine are from dunelm, they didn’t cost that much either.

I have both too in my bedroom, plus I also have net curtains to give me some privacy whilst getting dressed/changed during the day. The net curtains also help prevent gnats from getting in during the summer months. I have a nasty reaction to gnat bites.

I have wooden shutters, which are brilliant for maintaining privacy, keeping heat in and most of the light out. I have layered some insulated blackout curtains over the top, mainly because I struggle to sleep unless it's pitch-black, but also because it makes rooms look a bit more homely, and they sound less echoey. The curtains were around £70 a pair from Dunelm.

If it's too warm in the night, I just leave the bedroom door open a little. Mind you, I don't have the heating on, either, because the boiler wakes me up, too!

You need both. And ideally the blinds on runners. Cassettes they’re maybe called?

There is quite often light bleed at the top so the blackout curtains cover that.

I’ve had both. Now I just have the curtains.

Do you find the curtains on their own to be enough? I already have blinds, they are shutter blinds but I need my bedroom to be pitch black so when it gets to spring and summer and it’s light at 5am it really disturbs my sleep

I don't find curtains enough to keep the light out which is why I also have a blackout blind.
