Was anyone ill in January/February

My 14 year old dd had a mystery illness where her temperature went up and down for three days. She then took about four weeks to recover properly.
She was the only one in the house ill though we all felt a bit laid low.
We then saw our dentist who asked how we all were. When we told her about it she said she had lost count of the number of children her age who had suffered similar.
The only conclusion I can come to is that there was something going around that this age group were not immune to. So I am interested if others have noticed similar.

I went down with something towards the end of January - light headed, v.v. tired, breathless. Still have it now. Went to the doctor who said it was a virus, but she did bloods and I've been called back next week so will see what it is showing. I am quite fed up of it and no-one else in the house has had it. I am considerably older than 14 by the way!

We all had it in our family - ranging from 18 - 63. It was horrendous, can't remember being that ill.

Interesting, dd is normally the one who doesn’t get ill. She had no covid symptoms despite a positive PCR and having to isolate for 10 days. She was very breathless with this recent illness and the GP said that was an autistic response.

Me! I was breathless and weak and tired for three weeks. It was so weird! It was so bad I spoke like Stevie from Malcolm in the Middle and couldn't form full sentences.

I barely had a fever though. Eventually went to see a doctor who just shrugged at me and wrote on my notes "reassurance given" which just made me look a bit attention seeky.

Deffo wasn't Covid as I was asked to test at the doctors

Still not right and struggling with running 2km let alone my usual 5km

Yes. I was ill the day before New year's eve. Took me about 5 weeks to get over it.

Wonder what it was, presumably when they issue the new flu jab in the autumn it will cover this strain.
