Cabin bag and wedding outfit!

Toosoon12345 · 19/03/2026 08:57

I am a guest at a wedding later in the year and will probably fly with EasyJet.

The cost doubles if I take a large cabin bag so wondering if I’m being crazy considering packing everything in an underseat bag?!

I’ll be away for 2 nights and it’s still in the UK. Is a small bag doable?

Why don't you pack it and see ? I don't think anybody will be able to tell you if your clothes will fit.

Mumsntfan1 · 19/03/2026 09:03

Depends what you want to wear. If you need extra shoes etc. Should be fine as long as the wedding is fairly casual and you wear 'normal' clothes.

Parky04 · 19/03/2026 09:04

You have the bag and your clothes. How are we supposed to know?

Can you post to your location cheaper than a cabin bag if it doesn’t all fit in your under seat bag? One of the Evri or inPost lockers where you have 3 days to collect it, just send it a couple of days early.

Toosoon12345 · 19/03/2026 09:09

I need to buy a new bag - all recommendations welcome!
It’s a fairly informal wedding and rest of weekend will be casual

Then they would need to post it back seems a lot of faff to try and save a few £s

I think easy jet cabin bags are a tenner i am sure that is what we paid to fly to another UK country.

ScrummyDiva2 · 19/03/2026 09:36

I fly with EasyJet regularly for 3/4 days using only their underseat allowance. I use a Cabinmax bag https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cabin-Max-Stowaway-40x25x20cm-Underseat/dp/B07SM7GX84. Can fit loads in - especially if I use compression packing cubes.

Vacuum bags with a portable little vacuum. They have sets on Amazon. Ds uses these all the time and fits loads in a small rucksack. I am going to try it for a 3 night break soon.

Bjorkdidit · 19/03/2026 09:53

I've heard that vacuum bags make everything very creased.

But OP this is very much 'it depends'

Summer dress and sandals, probably yes.

Different outfits for day and night time incl something very structured, hat, statement handbag, elaborate make up, straighteners etc, then probably not.

Toosoon12345 · 19/03/2026 10:21

Thank you - smart casual wedding, no hats!

I use a company called send my bag, they are fantastic.

ForAmusedHazelQuoter · 19/03/2026 14:41

My DS used this on a recent four night trip, it’s more like a mini case than a bag.
Or you go halves on a cabin bag with someone ?

I thought they were around £70 for a return flight.

Oh maybe they just make up their prices as they go along, I definitely wasn't more that £30 return, £70 is a lot !

I just checked, they start at £24 each way and the average price paid is £30.

Fair, it was a while ago prices go up i guess, what does it cost to check in a case ?

something like this ???

hahabahbag · 19/03/2026 15:21

Can’t you just catch the coach, it’s why I can’t be dealing with flying short distances - we usually take the motorbike to Scotland which 6-8 hours typically, by plane it’s just over an hour, but you need to allow 2 hours to check in and 45 minutes to get to the airport then an hour the other end plus renting a car isn’t cheap, out of peak season I reckon it’s only taking me 90 minutes longer than flying (and as I’m not the person in control all I do is listen to podcasts!)

Likely to get stopped by customs if it’s Europe and charge tax

DappledThings · 19/03/2026 15:31

2 nights, so travel, stay the night, wedding stay the night then home. I would do that wearing jeans, trainers, jumper. Packed would be 2 pairs of pants, one top and pair of socks for return day. Dress for wedding and a pair of nice flat shoes. Pyjamas, toothpaste, toothbrush and one pair of contact lenses.

Easily doable in an under seat bag. But I don't wear make-up, jewellery, heels or use any other toiletries that my accommodation wouldn't provide. Would wash my hair morning of travel so wouldn't need to do that again.

Only you can know how much stuff you want to bring.

AgnesMcDoo · 19/03/2026 15:33

one night I could manage with an underwear bag.

two nights with an outfit - not a chance
