Hey everyone what’s your normal bedtime routine for your 5year olds my son goes to bed about 7:30-8:30pm latest I’m wondering if this time a bit early because sometimes he’s very active and not ready for bedtime

I do think it depends on your child. My first was in bed for 7 and definitely asleep by 7.30 at that age . My second was probably more like 8. Abd it depends what time they’re waking up in the morning. Do they seem like they’re getting enough sleep? Also, some children just need a long wind down, especially at that age. I had to give my second a full hour, including a bit of playing upstairs, reading a book, and chatting with the lights out before he’d sleep

My 6 year old is in bed at 7pm or just after and we read for about 30 mins. She's always asleep by 8pm. She wakes at around 6am no matter what time she goes to bed.

About 11 hours before they need to get up.

My 4 and 6 year olds go to be around 7-7:30pm, alarms are set for 6:30 but they usually wake around 6am.

My nearly 5 year old sleeps an almost precise 11 hours every single night regardless of what time he goes to bed.

On school nights he goes up around 730 and sleeps 8pm-7am. We don’t need alarms, he’s a human one!

motleymop · 18/03/2026 20:29

7.30. Up at around 6.30.

muppahuppapuppa · 18/03/2026 20:32

Ours would be up at 6.30- bath, story, bed

Asleep by 7.30 😊
