Is your partner a PITA in-law?

Having a difficult SIL, I sometimes wonder if my brother ever says anything to her, if he ever quietly asks her to reign it in, or if he’s oblivious or even likes that side of her. If your partner seems to cause friction with your friends or family, do you call them out on it privately?

Don’t think your title makes sense, what are you asking “is you partner a pain in the arse in - law?”

Oops! That sounds really odd now I’ve re-read it! Does your partner act like a PITA to their in-laws or your friends? Is that a bit better?

My BIL is a PITA. As a result we don't see much of my sister and her family. I've learnt over the years that no matter how outrageous he behaves she will defend him. So, yes I guess she does agree with him on some level and perhaps likes it.

My SIL (husband’s sister) is a nightmare - we tolerate each other for my husband’s sake & she’s had a massive falling out with her MIL and doesn’t like her husband’s sister either. I always wonder if she realises she’s the problem or if she thinks she just got super unlucky with all her in laws 😂

But yea I do wonder if her husband ever cringes at the way she behaves. I certainly do!

@Fancynewt- it’s a shame. I think I might have to go the same way, but hoping not to. She’s getting increasingly poisonous and I’m wondering if she’s just trying to cause a permanent split in the family.

I mean I’m a decent human who treats people well, but I wouldn’t be staying with anyone who told me to make myself smaller.

Interesting. My SIL might think this - she really doesn’t like me or my mum. I don’t expect everyone to like me, but FFS tone the poison down a bit for my brother’s sake as his family is important to him too. Maybe I’m the PITA and I’ve just been ultra lucky with all my other in-laws and his previous girlfriends.

What because I accept people as they are rather than wanting them to conform to my requirements? Because I know there’s two sides to a story and many of the SIL bashing threads are hyped up nonsense? Biscuit

My SIL clearly thinks my brothers family are beneath her. Unless of course it comes to childcare. But I’d never expect my brother to have a word, she’s a grown adult.
