We are going near the end of June
Staying at a RIU hotel in playacar
Just a bit worried it’s going to rain everyday and really bad seaweed.
We know it’s the start of rainy season but are hoping it will just be showers not days of rain
Anyone been In June ?
We have spent £4,000 on this holiday so don’t want it to be rubbish

I’d be more worried about the cartel violence than the seaweed tbh.

I’ve been to the Caribbean (Dominican Republic) in June three times. The weather has always been amazing. I appreciate it’s not Mexico, but it’s also DR’s “rainy season” and have never had a problem.

@IwanttoWFHi have been seeing that they get short sharp showers on afternoons but mostly overnight …I guess you can’t predict weather anywhere so I’m really hoping that’s all it is .

I've only ever been Jan/Feb but I know people who have been in June or July. Yes it will rain. In my experience you'll get a biblical downpour that kind of appears out of nowhere, disappears and the sun comes out again.

Whilst you may get a few downpours a day, they don't last for long. In June they will be a welcome change to the heat!

Enjoy!.

I've been to Playa in July. We got quite a few torrential downpour but unless there is tropical storm that should be it. It was a bad seaweed year and we didn't swim in the sea at the beach. We did spend time on Cozemel which has west facing beaches and it was lovely. They should be able to predict now if this is going to be a bad summer for seaweed though.

I went to Tulum in June a few years ago.
It was roasting and I think we only had one mad shower on one day. It was quite fun actually! As @Lemonjuicegums said it came out of nowhere, was biblical, only lasted a few minutes and then was lovely and sunny again.
The sargassum was bad, but we did know about that before we went. They tried their best to clear it from the beach, but it was a losing battle really.

I’d be more worried about the cartel violence than the seaweed tbh.

Ukraine is closer to the UK than the Mexican cartel violence is to Cancun. Given Ukrainians thought that was enough distance to seek refuge in the UK, I don’t think the violence is a serious cause for concern for holiday makers in Cancun.
