Are paid car checks worth it?

I’ve paid a deposit on a small car for my eldest. Now I’m seeing ads for these paid car checks. They seem to vary on price. Just wondering if they are real, useful and worth the money?
Im buying from a small garage. Hopefully they wouldn’t be selling a stolen car and how would it be recorded if it had been in an accident? What other checks can be seen?. I’ve seen the log book etc but I admit I’m new to all this.

I think it lets you know if any finance is owned on the vehicle, if so they will come looking for you either to pay the remainder or take car.
Other checks are things like if the car was involved in an accident, written off by insurer and then repaired.

I thought that used car garages did the checks themselves as standard? If you’re buying from a private individual then that is different.
