Therapist helped induce panic attack and it sounded unintentionally suggestive

I have weekly therapy sessions for anxiety and panic disorder.

anyway, I recently changed therapists and the man I have now is fabulous.

Last week, he decided we should try inducing a panic attack. Fine by me, did it before with my old therapist, by blowing through a straw really fast for 30 seconds.

His method was different. He wanted to take deep, quick breaths (no straw) for 2 whole minutes, while in true therapist fashion, also giving me a friendly pep talk.

So, what must have filled the corridor of many other therapy rooms, was the sound of this bloke, and me (30F) heavily breathing while my therapist is loudly panting the words:

“KEEP GOING LIKE THAT ANNA.” 😮‍💨
“THATS SO GOOD ANNA.” 😮‍💨
“JUST ONE MORE MINUTE LIKE THAT 😮‍💨ANNA, YOURE DOING GREAT” 😮‍💨
“JUST LIKE THAT” 😮‍💨
“30 MORE SECONDS” 😮‍💨
“DONT STOP, KEEP GOING” 😮‍💨

I couldn’t keep a straight fkn face, trying to take my induced panic attack seriously while my therapist and I sound like we’re doing anything but having a panic attack had me absolutely doubled over trying not to laugh in the moment. It now live absolutely rent free and I don’t have many people to laugh about it with, so here I am.

So next time you are starting to have a real panic attack, all you'll be able to remember is trying not to laugh at his unintentional simulation of sex. Which might stave off the panic attack. If that's intentional then it's possible genius level therapy
