How can I tighten Wayfarer Ray-Bans that slip down?

I was given some Wayfarer Ray-bans as a gift. I had tried them on in the shop and they seemed fine then but now I’ve worn them a. While they are slipping down my nose and are slightly too wide. It’s driving me mad but they’re expensive so I’m stuck with them! Is there anything I can do to make them a little tighter?

Apparently they only come in one size.

If the screws are not loose then nothing I don't think. They're not the kind of glasses you can bend or pay someone to bend.

@Onetwothreefourgo , I would take them into a local optician and offer to pay for them to tighten them. They may do it and not charge.

I had to get rid of mine as they were too big for my face a kept falling off when I bent forward

There are various youtubes showing you how to do this if you google it. First try tightening the tiny screws, then heat the arms in warm water and gently bend them to the shape you want. This is what opticians do (heat up the arms) but they have a special gadget to do it so you could go in and ask them.

From what I remember Wayfarers are quite big and clunky so they may not ever feel quite right but it's worth a go.

Bend the arms, as a glasses wearer I do this all the time.

VividDeer · 17/03/2026 17:15

And tighten screws

take them into an opticians and get them to bend the legs to fit you. You can do it yourself as well just heat the legs where they bend over your ears and gently bend them to make note of a curve. Don’t slowly and keep trying them on until they fit

The arms are too long. They don’t hold them back behind your ears so not much you can do. Obviously wide too. Just not your size.

thia doesn't help you with your current ones but may do in future. I rarely wore sunglasses because of this issue as I have a narrow head. My husband accidentally bought me some kids/ teens Ray Bans and they fit me perfectly.

Daughn · 17/03/2026 18:06

I got some adhesive silicon nose pads that you stick to the nose bridge of the glasses. Discrete and sorted the issue.

Nose Grip Pads Something like this but there are loads of options on Amazon.

Mine were the same, I eventually lost mine down a festival earth toilet

Thanks all for the suggestions. I tried this first - heated the arms with a hairdryer and then gently bended inwards. Much better fit so far… hopefully they won’t go back! May also try the nose pads too.
