No V5C received, MOT and tax overdue, what steps now?

Shit, the car is overdue MOT and Tax but we didn't get a tax reminder...
dh asked me to check tonight because we bought the car around year ago... from a reputable dealer.
Checked online... MOT and tax out of date by 2 months!!!
Obviously it will go in for MOT tomorrow or as soon as we can get it to our local garage. However... why no reminder? Hunted through all our car file and discovered we never received the VC5..only have the new keeper slip!

( We both assumed it had arrived and been filed by each other!)

The day we bought it I thought the dealer did the registration online, but it can't have gone through. I'm not sure what we do now? MOT first but can we still tax via the new keeper slip?!

Horrified as we have had lots of cars and never had this happen before!

You wouldn't get a reminder about the MoT. Hopefully it will pass tomorrow and you can ring DVLA and tax if over the phone.

If you’ve not had the VC5, the change of owner has likely not been processed, hence no reminder.

Dealer could’ve posted off and it went missing in the post, it’s on you to check that it’s been updated!

Contacted the dealer this morning who double checked..and sure enough it was still registered to them... somehow they had failed to process it! All done now, car's in for its MOT and hopefully if it passes we can tax it later!
A lesson for me in not assuming dh has filed stuff!!!
