The dreaded middle-of-the-night accidental 'like'

usedtobeaylis · 16/03/2026 10:50

Please tell me your tales of accidentally liking your ex's new girlfriend's best friend's 12 year old graduation photo on social media to make me feel better because I have done something similar last night 😭😆

Immediately went into witness protection by blocking and deactivating facebook, I am old enough to know better 😫

I love all the Facebook stories of accidental likes and tags.

The one that cracks me up so much is poster who tagged herself as the baby in a picture of her ex with his new wife and a baby.

I accidentally liked a photo of my ex from about 15 years ago - I’d spent ages going through photos of him so it was really obvious. I don’t dare look through anyone’s photos anymore. Facebook need to have a button to disable the likes!

I’m lol at the tagging of the baby 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Bored at work and had a scroll just before home time. My child’s friend had a hot single dad accidentally liked his very nice photo. Nearly died on the spot. Unliked it straight away but the panic.

I think the easiest way is to just not be nosey 😬 At least it wasn't someone tangentially related to an ex - more like someone directly related to a current object of affection at work 😫

I remember a poster who was looking at her exes Facebook..her young DD thought it was a search bar and "googled" Michael Jackson....so the poster ended up just randomly writing "Michael Jackson" on her exes FB page.

EarthlyNightshade · 16/03/2026 13:46

I don't get a notification if someone likes/unlikes my photos, maybe it depends on your settings?

I had my friend request accepted recently from an old manager that I was having a nose at on FB, certainly did not intentionally friend request him.

I moved him to a list that doesn't see my posts and I think now is around the time that I could unfriend him and he wouldn't notice.
Initially I was planning a new life/identity in Dubai, but that hasn't worked out for me either.

It was one of the funniest things I’ve read on here. It may have gone in to classics!

We can't all be on the front line in Ukraine like you.

😂😂😂

Fishedupso · 16/03/2026 13:56

I dont know its all quite small on a phone. Ive like several things in error. The other day i got the down arrow too!
Worst for me is the repost on insta i e reported several random things.

My most embarrassing has been email though. I was emailing to move the date of something to a company but my email wouldnt let me create new message so i use old one and delete. Well i hadnt finished and it still had the old details (re my relative having cancer!) and it sent it - I definitely did not click send!

Years ago, when FB was new and I had no idea how to use it, I had a HUGE crush on a manager at work. I wanted to FB stalk him, however I typed his name into the 'status' bar and SAVED IT!! I left it there for hours before someone told me what id done .... the embarrassing was of the chart

Yep done this 😂😂
also done the liking of very old photos. Thankfully realised straight away!

Howling at this. Jesus! That’s awful! 😂

It’s hilarious. The shame! Omg! I’d cringe myself inside out. Thanks for the laugh 👍

Copperoliverbear · 16/03/2026 14:14

Hopefully they have notifications off.

"Are you going to be delving deep into a rabbit hole of your exes new life / new boyfriend's previous life? If so, please tick this box and we will set you to ghost mode where you will be physically unable to like / follow / comment on / share anything at all and will remain anonymous to stalk investigate until your hearts content"

Music to my ears. I would be up for this

I’ll go have a look about in classics. It’s a brilliant thread. About embarrassing tech blunders.

The other story that made me laugh was the poster who had a crush on the new guy in the office. She found out his address and put it in to google maps. But pressed ‘start navigation’ and then google maps read out ‘starting navigation to ‘new man’s address’. If have left the job 😂.

I once accidently shared a photo of my exes wife and kids and it automatically tagged the "feeling emotional 🥰" thing on it.

I'm no longer on social media at all.

Fantastic 🤣. Sorry for your embarrassment but that really made me laugh.

Omg I nearly choked laughing 😂 😂 😂 😂

LetMeSwinInMiniEggs · 16/03/2026 14:51

I'd dig my own grave. A mum from my kids primary school must've been having a snoop as she sent a friend request and when I clicked on the notification, she has cancelled the request. We awkwardly smile in passing

usedtobeaylis · 16/03/2026 15:00

Some of these are excruciating 😭 I do especially enjoy the work-related crush ones since that's my situation. The relative has never heard of me so the chances of them pinging her a message and saying some woman from her work has been facebook stalking is nil but I'm still disappearing into my own body every time I think about that 'like' lighting up the midnight hour 👀

TallulahBetty · 16/03/2026 15:08

Howling at some of these.

Does anyone remember that FB glitch a few years back, where it sent a friend request to someone if you went on their profile?! Lasted a few hours. Mortifying
