Why is life so fucking complicated? Technology

  1. Ordered a new monitor and a new laptop. Their ports are non compatible. Have had to order an adaptor. Another £15 and need to wait until it arrives before I can get up and running.

  2. Ordering a garden tool from Amazon. It's "age restricted" due to blades. Have to upload a credit card to pass their "age verification" procedures after trying various different debit cards and typing my name in 14 different ways.

Yes I know IABU but honestly why does nothing just work!

I agree so much. Technology was supposed to make life easier but increasingly it's becoming more inconvenient. Nothing functions properly.

Thanks @usedtobeaylis agree. Remember when you used to order a TV, computer or phone and it would come with all the cables and plugs you needed?

We have 14 million plugs and cables in this house but still never the right one for any particular occasion!

Also it seems to me as if companies release overly complicated technology before it's actually ready, in an effort to outdo competitors by showing off. (Companies run by men of course). Instead of taking their time, keeping it more simple and releasing it when it works properly.

I am definitely more stressed these days than I was when I had a Nokia 3210 and the charger it came with. Never used to spend such frustrating Sunday afternoons researching a PhD in electronics!

I work in IT and the number of different connectors I have to deal with makes me think of this often: https://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/standards.png
