Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, still in not my morning spot - hopefully I'll find that today! Boy cat is sunbathing in the front window again, girl has gone back up to the girls' room.

Today's plan is to empty the conservatory & put the table back together. Then to stack the remaining boxes along the non-window wall, regrouping them by person/room. Sounds organised...may descend into chaos!

A break for lunch of some sort, then move furniture into place in the girls room so dd2 can at least unpack her things. Dd1 is heading for her coach back to London at around 4pm so probably won't get to unpack anything much this time. She doesn't know it yet but she's getting up to help very soon!

The last job of the day, which may actually become the first, is to balance the washers feet so it doesn't bounce about so noisily & I can wash the towels. I need the dryer moved so I can do that though.

Tea will probably be chicken, mash and veg, if I locate some pans and roasting tins while we move things 🤔.

After all that, it'll be showers and early nights, ready for work tomorrow 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning lucysmam and others. It's a wet and windy day here. It sounds like you are on top of things. I would like a conservatory but there isn't the space.
I've had 2 coffees, a cuppa and a crusty roll with butter. I'm about to make another cuppa. Later I'm going to dds for afternoon tea with my aunt. She didn't have children of her own and is a second mum to my 2. Dd is making most of the goodies herself and I'm looking forward to it. It won't cross Ds mind that it's Mother's Day which doesn't bother me at all. Dinner later will be steak, if I'm hungry. Enjoy your day.

Crunchymum · 15/03/2026 09:46

Happy Mothers day to those who mark it and happy Sunday to the lucysmam thread crew.

Nothing much planned here, although we're all going out for dinner this evening (Turkish, my absolute fave!)

DC1 and DP are on a cycle this morning so the girls and I are doing homework and baths etc. I need to stick a wash on and clear the airers.

Lunch will be sausage sandwiches.

Just the usual really, barring going out for dinner. That is a real treat.

DilemmaDelilah · 15/03/2026 09:50

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I think we are going out to visit a large charity shop quite soon. We have a bit of laundry to do so I will put a load on before we go out.

I'm going to have a look at my seedlings in a minute, I don't think they will need watering as they were done yesterday afternoon, but I don't want them to get thirsty.

Nothing planned for this afternoon - but we have been invited to my local daughter's this evening for a meal. My not-local daughter sent me a beautiful bouquet yesterday, and my step-daughter messaged me early this morning to say Happy Mother's Day. So it's a good day today!

I note you didn't say anything about Mother's Day in your post Lucysmam, I hope that something happens for you later on, or that you're not bothered about it and not disappointed.

Happy Mother's Day to all of us mums - I hope you all have a good day whatever you are, or are not, doing.

Good morning @lucysmam - sounds like a very busy Mother's Day! Good morning & Happy Mother’s Day to the rest of The Sunday Crew. DH & I had a lie in til 8 which is late for us & I made a cuppa & put some clothes in the tumble dryer. Weather is unsettled so not risking hanging them out. Dealt with a few offers on Vinted & have been asked to measure a man’s coat. It was my bargain of the century - beautiful Jasper Conran Italian wool overcoat from the charity shop for a fiver!! Plans have changed today as DD17 is now going to her GF’s. I might still go somewhere by myself as DH will be cleaning out the rabbits. Possibly an NT property to see the daffodils whilst they’re at their best. I delivered DM’s card yesterday but need to get her a present & pop round with that. Can’t seem to find her favourite flowers anywhere. Tea will be last night’s planned prawn stirfry. I wasn’t feeling the best so had cheese on toast instead. Will miss being able to watch Call The Midwife. Might put a film on like we did yesterday. Oh & I need to pack for moving back in with my folks.

frozendaisy · 15/03/2026 10:05

Morning morning

sounds like boy cat has found his kitchen spot you need to sort this out @lucysmam :-)

I was up early to get eldest up for crack of dawn driving lesson which he booked, other two still sleeping (not for long). Just synthetics (stinky teenage boy sports stuff) to dry (in dryer it’s bright but cold and they take an hour in dryer if that - easier quicker all round).

A normal day today (perfect. Mother’s Day for me) we did the grandma meal yesterday so roast, revision, school work, unexpected arrangements to fit in, lovely as Sunday should be. (Yes one already youngster is off to the forest park wherever that is).

Have a lovely day everyone.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 15/03/2026 10:05

Good morning, all!

I am currently sat in the living room, listening to the washing machine clean the bedding I've just stripped from the bed.
DH is away on a work trip this weekend, and DS1 is at work, so it's just me and the two youngest DC at home. They've done a cracking job of making me a cup of tea and some breakfast and they gave me some lovely, thoughtful gifts that DH had taken them out to buy last week.
DD and I are just getting ready to head into town briefly, so I can pick up some spring bedding/cushions and possibly a wreath for the front door. Then we're taking DH's car through the car wash because it is filthy! I'm going to hoover it out, and hoover my bedroom when we get home.
Then, I am taking some scones and clotted cream to DM to spend some time putting the world to rights with her. Before cooking lasagne for dinner and starting the traditional weekly arguments with the DC about showering, making packed lunches for tomorrow, doing homework and getting to bed on time tonight!

Tangerinesattack · 15/03/2026 10:08

Good morning all!
It's been a delightful morning so far with bacon and avocado panini all round and some lovely mothers' day gifts: port glasses and books out the Oxfam, pyjamas and a plant - I'm very happy. I'm about to have another coffee then I'll spend an hour sorting my mum's accounts. We'll give the mums a call too at some point. DH has to go and pick up a fridge freezer from the Recycling shop but he's feeling fragile after the rugby so not sure when he'll get that done but I hope he takes DS with him!

Might get us all out for a walk along the beach later but the weather is pretty foul so we'll see. Roast pork and rhubarb crumble for dinner tonight - yum.

Have a lovely day everyone.

FinallyMummy · 15/03/2026 10:12

We are away at a caravan park but going home today.
This morning DH took LO to the park so I could have a lie in then made tea and toast when they got back.
We’ve now packed up and will be leaving shortly. We’re stopping at the arcade and park before going out for a roast then going home.
DH will visit his SM, I’ll take LO to see my mum for an hour then it’ll be home for bedtime, holiday washing on and a chill before MIL arrives for 2 days tomorrow.

This is only my second Mother’s Day and it’s been lovely so far. LO keeps calling it mammys day and telling DH I need to sit down 😊

traveltraveltravel78 · 15/03/2026 10:16

Morning all.

Was up at 5:30am, then dp got up at 6:30am for the F1. I watched some of it, before coming back to bed as my back was hurting. Asda food shop arrived at 8:30am, so I still need to put that away. Just waiting for the pain meds to kick in. Dp came back to bed and brought me coffee and cake. Ds21 text from uni to wish me happy Mother's Day, ds26 is still in bed but I think he forgot!

Planning on quiche, new potatoes and ranch salad for lunch. I have some sorting out to do this PM as I'm working away until Friday then ds21 is coming home. My house is needs such a good declutter but I'm struggling for motivation.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 15/03/2026 10:33

Morning all and happy Mother’s Day!

I’ve had a coffee in bed and then got up and done some tidying and washing before getting back into bed for breakfast and cards/presents. Going to chill here for a while before getting up.

DH is taking the DCs down to his mums early afternoon and I will collect the Asda shop and put it away. When he gets home I’ll take them to my mums for a little bit.

No other big plans. An easy dinner and chilled out evening. Maybe a nice bath.

Have a great day everyone!

Taytocrisps · 15/03/2026 10:46

Morning everyone. I've had a nice Mother's Day so far. DD presented me with a bunch of flowers last night and some nice presents and a card this morning. Then I drove her to work.

Had some breakfast. I'm going to empty the dishwasher shortly and clean the kitchen and sort out the cats' litter trays.

I'll head to my Dad's around lunchtime and we'll head out to lunch together. We'll raise a glass to all the mothers (my Mam, his Mam and my maternal grandmother). Would love to go back in time to the my childhood days when we presented my Mam with a bunch of simple daffodils and a card. We'd have a nice cake for tea.

I'll pick up DD after work.

Tomorrow DD and I are heading into Dublin. There are loads of tourists in town for the rugby/St. Patrick's Day, so there's a great atmosphere. We'll take a stroll through Temple Bar and go for lunch somewhere, to make up for the fact that we can't go out for lunch today.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 15/03/2026 10:47

Weather has scuppered going out - raining yet again!

Peridot1 · 15/03/2026 11:45

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. And Happy Mother’s Day to all.

Been up ages as still jet lagged. Had breakfast of toast and honey at about 7. A few cups of tea and a coffee. Emptied the dishwasher and wiped around the kitchen.

DS gave me a box of Ferrero Rocher and a card for Mother’s Day. And then brought me down his washing! (I did ask to be fair!). He is coming out for a walk with me later which is what I asked for for Mother’s Day.

House is pretty tidy as we had a friend of DH over last night to watch the rugby. He brought burgers, buns etc and a nice piece of beef with him for dinner for everyone so he can come again!

Nothing much planned here today. Laundry and a walk and reading my book. I also started watching The Walsh Sisters last night and liked it more than I thought I would so might watch a bit more of that. Also might call my sister for a chat.

DH is doing roast pork for dinner. And there will be wine.

gingercat02 · 15/03/2026 11:49

Happy Mother's day 🌺
Usual morning here. Just back from my class, DH has gone for a run, DS isn't long up.
We're going for lunch with my mum at 2.
Need to catch up on the F1 before then.
We've had a bit of a sad week, our little cat has been diagnosed with a heart condition (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), she's on a blood thinner but there is no other treatment sadly 😢

mondaytosunday · 15/03/2026 12:15

Just finished my usual Sunday brunch: bagel, bacon, egg, avocado and tomatoes. Soooo goood! On my own as usual but DD is coming home for Easter break this week so hurrah! Which means doing a bit of house cleaning (amazing how things can deteriorate when I’m on my own). I’m also waiting for the lad up the road to come collect keys and be shown around as he’s looking after my cats while I’m we’re away (let down by house sitter so first week they are on their own with this boy popping in, managed to find a replacement sitter for second week). My son just surprised me (from afar - he lives 80 miles away) with a beauty voucher from my favourite salon for Mother’s Day. Totally unexpected. I suspect my DD is totally unaware of the day which is fine.
I really need to do some crochet - I’m staying at my sisters in the US and it’s three birthdays plus Easter and Christmas to make up for - there’s also the live in au pair and I’ve decided to crochet her pug a jacket with her Brazilian colours (she loves dressing up that dog). I seem to go from all in to all out - either I’m crocheting for hours a day or not at all for weeks!
Dinner is leftovers from yesterday which suits me as I don’t really enjoy cooking and when it’s just me hardly seems worth the effort! And continuing the French spy drama The Bureau - took a look at the new Scarpetta and could barely make it through the first episode- it’s pretty poor.
Nice to see the sun again - went for a walk yesterday (first actual walk just for the sake of it - since my dog died in January I just haven’t wanted to).

Rainbow1235 · 15/03/2026 12:24

Ifyouknowthough · 15/03/2026 12:34

Happy Mother’s Day to those that celebrate and thoughts with those that cannot. I had to be up earky and drop eldest at their sport. Came home and made my own lovely breakfast. Did some washing and tidied. Watched eldest end of sport. Just waiting on a food shop delivery. Takeaway roast dinner later.

Thislittlekitten · 15/03/2026 14:51

Afternoon all

Bit late but have been feeling a bit sorry for myself. Full of the cold. Did have a lovely lie in which felt much needed and bacon rolls in bed. Had a nice Mother’s Day gift too. So stuffed up though.

Took DDog for a nice walk and now to take DS to a club. DH and DD at the football.

Im tackling bedsheets and uniforms today and hoping I have enough in for packed lunches to avoid a shop.

Plan tonight for look over some work and course work and maybe a bath. DH making steaks for tea tonight.

Tiddlywinks63 · 15/03/2026 16:38

Oops! Very late to say hello…….👋🏻
It was a lovely sunny morning so did 30 minutes of tidying in the garden, lots more needed and I got a load of washing dried on the line before it rained.
Kitchen tidied and chucked out my air fryer because the basket has suddenly become corroded and rusty 😬🫣 Was it because it’s been in the dishwasher regularly? Anyway, popped next door to look at my lovely neighbour’s Ninja and she said they had their previous one in the cupboard, would I like it?!
Of course I said yes please 🙏. She refused to take anything for it but I’ll buy her some flowers tomorrow. I won’t be putting the basket in the dishwasher any more!
I haven’t heard a word from the DCs for Mothering Sunday, rather sad but 🤷🏼‍♀️
Quiet afternoon, shower and hair wash shortly, I have a CT scan at 8.30 tomorrow morning so will need to be out of the house by 7.30 at the latest. I have told DH he’ll have to sort out walking the dogs, no way am I taking tiddler out at 6 in the morning!

lucysmam · 15/03/2026 17:45

@DilemmaDelilah I sort of forgot about it with making plans to tackle the house 🤷‍♀️. They gave me nicer than I usually buy, and fancy chocolates...and a 1st mother's day card altered to 19th 🤣.

@frozendaisy he certainly has! The table is up, so maybe I'll find my spot now.

@Tangerinesattack I'm embarking on a mission for vintage glassware from charity shops - shot glasses and martini glasses to start!

@gingercat02 I'm sorry to read about your little cat. I can't imagine mine being poorly (they're still very young) 💐.

The table is up, conservatory organised into - to clear out, to re-box and well...my stuff 🙈. Tbf, I now have less space. And my wardrobe has suffered from moving so needs replacing.

Living room mainly clear, ready for a good clean. And the girls' room is sort of organised so dd2 can start working through her stuff while dd1's away again.

I've just seen dd1 off on her first leg of her journey back to London, heading home to shower before unpacking some of my books.

I hope you've all had a lovely day 💐.
